2006 6speed in j30a1?
alright heres my thing i hate automatics..... thats said. i own a 99 v6 automatic coupe. i just put a rebuilt automatic tranny in it, new clutches, new diff(thats the reason why i changed it was because they had issues leaking thru the seals) and before changing it my take off sucked the fat ones. i ran a 16.7 at 89with the bad tranny. i havnt been back to the track since. but my take off still really sucks. now that im done whinning about my car being automatic.
i work at a honda dealership as an apprentice tech. i was talking with one of the master tech there who is into fast cars, and swaping motors. i asked him if one of the new 6 speed manual accord transmission would fit in mine, he really didnt know. but thought it would be fun to do. just wondering if anyone knows if it'll fit and work right. or even the acura 3.2cl/tl tranny 6speed. i know that alot of the parts out of the 3.2 can also work with my car.maybe the tranny will.
i thank anyone who has any info in advance for your help

I havent heard of the newer accord tranny's being swapped in but theres no doubt in my mind why it wouldnt work. The TL/Cl swap has been done plenty of times already so the hard part is over with.
if it only cost you $1500 I hope it was through a friend because there is no way to properly rebuild that tranny for less than about 2.1K and the average rebuild runs about 3K. Believe me I checked before I had mine done and I took the best priced option that I could get from a well known establishment with a great BB record was was 3.2K

he works at a honda dealership... I'm sure he knows some people that rebuild trannies.

he is lucky then......I thought an accord V6 (LX) could run 15.5 - 15.9 through the quarter stock? I know when I get down on the throttle, my car hauls like there is no tomorrow...........I love it when some dude in a V6 camaro or V6 mustang comes up and wants to go at it.....I was thinking about a 3.5L swap since I could do it for about 1K in parts and labor.... that would be a beast right there....you can drop an acura mdx motor in for a torque happy experience............

There was a few guys on this forum that did the 3.2 TL/CL Type-S swap, if you search around it might popup. But I heard it cost alot of money and it might fit, but there were alot of wires to hookup or something like that. My friend use to have a 01 CL type-S and he let me drove it once, it was awesome, alot of torque. Also, on top of the forum, there is this one thread that tells you how to convert an 98-02 V6 auto to stick.

Ok the 06 6speed will work, but it involves a lot of wiring if you plan on keeping your stock motor. If you are wanting to swap in the whole motor and tranny get ready for tons of headaches and you better have another car to drive while yours is down. This is not really a weekend swap if you have never done it before. If you have questions just let me know.
well im not gonna change my engine anytime soon. so i think now im just gonna try and find the tl 6 speed tranny. i dont need anymore headaches.

are you talking about the new 2006 engine and tranny swap being a headache? cuz i really wouldnt want to do that. if i had that kind of money id do the 6 speed and get it supercharged

your best bet is to just buy a new accord if you want the 6speed cause it is not as simple as putting it in there and going. There are all sorts of tricks that you have to do to make the car even start once you have the trans in there. Not to mention the other things that need to be done in order to drive it.

I agree. As much as I enjoy a manual tranny, I'd keep the auto in your case. Then I'd do one of two things: supercharge or sell. If you want more power, do the forced induction. If you really dig the manual tranny, get a new car. I'm just trying to look at this from a headache per dollar ratio; the more you try swapping with your current car, the more money you'll spend and headaches you'll run into.
