about a free d15b7
i dont know if i should take it but i can get a free d15b7, the only problem is that cylinder #1 has a compression of 25 what could be the problem sawwie if i dont no much but i could use the help
well. a couple of things come to mind. first of all, i would take it no matter what is wrong with it, if it is free. you can always tear it apart before you put it in to make sure there is nothing wrong with it.
now as for what could be wrong with it. if compression is 25 in #1, then i would suspect either the piston rings have seen better days, or one of the valves is bent from any one of many reasons. you can check this by pouring oil down the #1 sparkplug hole, just a little, like a teaspoon, and redo the compression test. if the number is higher, say like 100psi, then the rings are fried and need to be replaced. if the compression stays around 20 after the oil test, then it may be a bent valve or valves. youll have to take the head off to figure out which one, or ones.. but that should get you started.
even if the block or the head or both turn out to be complete junk, some major cities have metal recyclers that will pay you a little bit of money to recycle the block.. so either way it is win win.. i just wouldnt suggest swapping it into your car until you know what the problem is.. unless your car isnt a daily driver.
good luck.
