Default I have a 00 Civic EX and would like to Supercharge it for more power but...

I have an auto.

My question is, would it be logical to get one? I know it would be best to get a s/c if I were manual transmission but what about an auto? The stock D motor is not fast enough for me and I want to do something about it. I know I could easily swap the motor out but this is my daily that gets me from point A to B so I would like to keep the stock D in there.

I was also wondering that if I did actually did get the s/c, would tuning be different in any ways?

Please let me know what your thoughts are about this. Feedback is encouraged.

if you are bad at shifting, then you probably won't see much of a difference in 1/4 times or speed putting a SC on a automatic or manual. If it's your daily driver, I see nothing wrong with it. I don't know anything about tuning it maybe someone else here can help you out.

having an auto tranny wont affect having a s/c that much. but you will have to have some sort of tuning, whether it is hondata, or crome, uberdata, whatever.

being an automatic i would rather get a roots type supercharger (aka jackson racing) rather than a turbocharger.

I would rather have a s/c than turbo. That's just rediculous.

Does anyone else have some good information on this or opinion about me wanting to s/c my auto D?

yea, turbos are not the best idea to put onto street Hondas. They have a lag, and for a 4 banger with no low end torque anyway, you want the blower cause its runnin all the time. yes a blower goes off the engine, but so does your p/s, alternator, a/c, but this one at least gives power. people do turbos cause there cheaper, but bolting on a JRSC is so much easier (aside from the tuning which a turbo needs too.)

Id spend the extra money and convert to manual. If you get upto 160whp, your torque converter may not like it.

If you are going to spend the money to buy a s/c or t/c then why wouldn't you just take that money and drop a b16 in?¿? I know it's your daily driver but any of the s/c or t/c systems plus install are gonna cost way more than doin a swap.

man shut it people with the swap.

Blower, 2 grand. FInd me a B16 INSTALLED for 2 grand. Stock, the B16 will not make the power of a blown D.

Thats why

my bro had an ex with a crapson *cough* *cough* i mean jackson racing charger and it wasnt even as fast as an si. Automatic or manual dosnt make a difference, if thats all your doing besides bolt-ons, then you'll be good as far as reliabilty and driveability...just dont expect to be mr 14 sec qtr, or even 15 for that matter. Its nicely engineered, cool looking, better for daily driving, but not so great on power... listen to these idiots opinions, or go look at dyno results and times.

i'm not trying to convert to manual since it's my daily.

I don't wanna swap bcus then i would have to convert to manual.

I was just going to get a used jrsc for about 1000, install it, tune it, then call it a day.

I want to know feedback about putting a s/c on an auto. Not " swap it" or "turbo it".

an automatic civic has 0 potential I wouldn’t even think of putting a turbo on my car when it was automatic, its getting a turbo in the spring

btw theres nothing wrong with an engine swap in a daily driver, but there is something wrong with a forced induction engine and a daily driver

you people got it twisted

and for the last time, guy wants to supercharge, NOT swap or turbo. And yea, its cause bolting in a turbo is EASY relative to a turbo or motor swap, its got the complexity of the y8 IM swap.

If you get the supercharger tuned tell the tuner to be careful of how much it makes. Stock Honda torque converters are beyond ****. I wouldnt trust it past 150whp for long. 150whp is plenty for a little daily driver.

Go for it. I'm doing the same thing that you're doing, only I've got a manual. I just want a quick daily driver. But like a few guys stated, whoever tunes it has to be careful to not let it have too much power, honda auto's don't like power.

I really dont know the reliability of 50% more power through the stock T.C. If you do, please keep an eye on the A/T

Thats a stupid *** comment, and its wrong. my NA D walks stock EM1 SI's. some people on D-series.org have S/C's and are running 14's and lower. my D runs around a mid 15....so how the hell are you gonna tell him his supercharged D wont run a 15? Anyway, BlazinCivic, go to D-Series.org as well, they have some valuble info on th D.

I think the supercharger would be a great idea....for the money True you would see a lil more gain if manual...but nonetheless a vast improvement over stock. I had a 98 ex manual with jackson supercharger......with boost upgrade...even had the crappy fmu..instead of real engine management....drove it for 58,000 miles without a single problem, then sold the car. I made 173 whp and the car ran 13.9 in the 1/4 mile with the assistance of bolt-ons, a cam, and some decent tires...I say for the money you cant do any better reliably...just my 2 cents

So even if I did happen to get the s/c, I wouldn't be able to use it to it's full potential because of the stock torque converter? Could I do something to that like get an aftermarket one or something?

There IS a company that makes a performance torque converter for the Civic, let me try to find their site. I think there was a article in Honda-Tuning or Import-Tuner
