Default Honda bumper cover

Hey all...this is my first post on this site.

Definitely looks like a great site and i hope i can be a solid contributor in the future.

Now on to my problem

My car
- Honda accord 2003
- charcoal grey
-4cyl
-4dr

Heres the situation, my car was parked in a lot yesterday morning and i came back to the lot in the afternoon and found that some jerk*(( decided to hit my car and leave...he must have tried to get in the spot next to me, he dragged his car across my bumper and now theres a huge crack right down my bumper (a little below the light) the light is fine but im assuming i need a whole new bumper...any help guys?

basically im looking to know:

- avg cost of replacement? (parts and labor)
- whether it even needs to be replaced or can it just be "fixed"
- i did a search for bumpers from a site you guys provided http://www.rockauto.com
and it looks like the price of the bumper is around 200 but i may have searched wrong...does that sound about right?
- any other info...

thanks in advance guys...

Here's what Honda has to offer:

https://www.hondapartsdeals.co...B++46

Front Bumper Cover:
04711-SDA-A90ZZ 001 FACE, FR. BUMPER (DOT) - 1 $252.92 (L) $186.65 (Sale)
Rear Bumper Cover:
04715-SDA-A90ZZ 002 FACE, RR. BUMPER (DOT) - 1 $305.93 (L) $225.77 (Sale)

From past personal experience I recommend the Honda oem examples over the aftermaket copies. The aftermarket units sag, warp and don't retain their shape like the oem units.

cool, thanks for the help....

So how much would you estimate labor to be on something like this? also this is a lease and it goes back in a few months, should that be a factor in my repair?

Sometimes those can be repaired. You gotta have it painted, too.

I assumed it was your car.
If you're gonna turn it in, do it the cheapest way possible. But you'll have to have it painted, regardless of how you go

Are those GENUINE OEM Honda parts? I know its says its OEM but I just want to make sure cuz thats a hell of a deal for parts. They arent so specific either on trim levels so it makes me weary.

I'm not entirely sure myself, since their pricing is still more expensive than that of Majestic or Saccuchi Honda (They are selling at "Jobber" (wholesale) thru their web-store).
Honda also doesn't offer Bumper Covers pre-primed.

Majestic Honda, Lincoln RI:
http://www.hondaautomotivepart...y.jsp
04711-SDA-A90ZZ 001 FACE, FR. BUMPER (DOT) - 1 $252.92 (L) $189.69 (Sale)
04715-SDA-A90ZZ 002 FACE, RR. BUMPER (DOT) - 1 $305.93 (L) $229.45 (Sale)

Saccuchi Honda, Middletown RI

04711-SDA-A90ZZ 001 FACE, FR. BUMPER (DOT) - 1 $252.92 (L) $186.65 (Sale)
04715-SDA-A90ZZ 002 FACE, RR. BUMPER (DOT) - 1 $305.93 (L) $225.77 (Sale)

That within the range I'd expect. That's about what State Farm paid (among other items) when I ( MY CAR &^%&$ ) was rear-ended last summer.

makes sense, cost 1500 at the body shop for left quarterpanel and front bumper replacement along with a few other minor things when I had my '04 4dr hit by a f-350 last summer

I've had one repaired for about half that, including painting. I'm sure it depends on how much the bumper skin is damaged. Probably also depends on the going labor rates where you live.

my car was backed into somebody and the rear right part of the bumper was hangin on by a thread so somebody had the great idea of stitching it up by drilling holes at the appropriate spots and quike tieing it together. Then i got some factory paint and painted over it.
I've been riding with it ever since cause im too lazy to fix it.

I'm wondering if i went and got a rear bumper how would i go by painting it???
1.how many paint cans needed?
2.primer it??
3. other stuff that i dont know about cause i never painted anything before besides a few touch up spots???

~Thx

It’s not outrageous, but I do think it’s a little high.

The bumper cover will either cost $200 or $240 per p_adam’s post (I’m tacking on $15 for shipping). When I had my rear bumper buffed and repainted on my ’99 back in 2000 the cost was $100 at the dealer or $200 at a bodyshop – I went with the bodyshop because that’s where the lady who was paying for it wanted me to go, I think she was friends with the owners or something.

The question is, how hard is it to replace a bumper cover? I’ve never personally done it, but for $200 or $300 I’d sure try to figure out how hard it is. If it is just removing a few bolts, do it yourself. You’d probably have to leave your car with the bumper cover at whoever paints it so they can match it up the color correctly.

I posted below but got some answers from reading this thread. I dont know a whole lot about cars but now realize that it is my rear bumber cover that is damaged/cracked. Does anyone know if leasing companies require you to tell them about repairs or collisions?

As long as it's repaired when you turn it in, they won't say anything. But one way or another, you will pay to have it fixed.
