Default Downpipe Dilemma for h22

Ok so i got my stock downpipe from a HT memebr today, and i bolted it up. Theres a few issues with it. The first issue is its too short, its about 8-10 inches to short. Also the collector flange on the downpipe is different from the catalytic converter flanger that was on my car before. What do you guys think i should do??
This was was i was thinkin:
1. Take car to muffler shop have them extend my Apexi Exhuast pipe to make up for the difference, and also have them weld the matching flang to the collector of the stock downpipe.
2. My second option is to buy a catalytic converter for a 97 and up prelude( the downpipe was labled for a 97 prelude) to make up for the flange issue, and then take the car to a shop and have them extent the Apexi exhuast pipe to make up for the shortness.

What do you think? Any one else have this issue?? Help me out guys thanks.

What you have is a B pipe from a H23 prelude, with the A pipe for a VTEC prelude I would guess, if they would mount to each other..

weird, but thats the only model prelude I can think of that has different length/flange, but I don't know about the SH?

NO NO....Th A pipe and the B pipe BOTH are for a h22. The flang that connects those two fit perfectly. The connection(flange) between the cat and downpipe are different. The downpipe outlet is triangular and the cat converter inlet is three point triangular but in a odd shape. The converter was for my previous motor an h23, i know have an h22 in it. The wont connect at the downpipe/converter flanges. You guya get it? ill try to post pics aSAP

the flange on an h22 A pipe is different than that of an h23 catalytic converter.

LOL...i assumed that, but i put some options on the first post and wanted to know what evryone thought about my options and if they had any alternative solutions. The o2 sensor wires are also not long enough to reach the plug on the harness, can i cut and extend??

The same thing happened to me when I installed my DC Sports headers, I took it too midas and had them custom weld a high flow cat on.

I'm confused. Correct me if I am wrong.

You have a 4th Gen Prelude with the H23 stock cat and stock length cat-back exhaust.

The ONLY difference is the downpipe, right?

It sounds like the person who sent you the downpipe sold you one from a 5th Gen BASE Prelude.

If I were you, I would see if you can get a legit 4th Gen OEM downpipe, or upgrade the header to an aftermarket one that is the correct one. After all the money you pay to get a cat and have it lengthened you could get a Megan Racing header. Also, messing with the length of different exhaust parts could cause problems later on if you decide to upgrade in the future.

Just my opinion though.

Ok....so im not totally sure but there are a few opinions going around about the h22 and h23 downpipe.
Some are saying that the difference is in the Generation(4th compared to 5th) and some are saying the difference is based on the Model(SI compared to Vtec). Im a bit confused.
I was thinkin about the megan header idea, but im reading that they are of POOR quality, that they dont pass smog, and that there just straight up a waste of money. And i definetly dont wanna invest in junk. I dont wanna start know.lol. Ive got all week to think about it.

Also...ive been searching months for this stupid downpipe, and this is all i could come up with. I dont plan on wasting anymore time looking for a piece of metal. This motor swap i did has been a slow process for me, and im tired of it. ERR!!! lol... thanks guys, ill see what i can do.

if you have a 4th gen A pipe it will reach teh cat perfectly but not bolt up cuse of the diff flange.
if its too short you got a 5th gen A pipe.

ok...so i fefinetly have a 5th gen a PIPE(dwonpipe), got that straight.

But the flange, what should i do about that part? the cat is for a 4th gen SI. should i just get a 5th gen cat? if so. where can i get one thats oem? i wanna be able to pass smog.
