Default Looking for an article on Sound Deadening

I went through all the threads on sound deadening. Someone had posted a very good article on sound deadening in a thread. It discussed the different types of products and the results. Please post it if you have it bookmarked.

Thanks.

TurboLaxx, I really liked your setup and your write-up was very well done.

I had the same idea in mind about the floorboard. Did you screw down the right and left sides toward the front? I guess you did it so the floorboard doesn't move.

Did the peal and seal make a difference as far as reducing noise? How much of it did you use?

Yeah i screwed down every panel..you can see some screwed in this picture:

Well i think the peal and seal really just keeps the sound "in" the car. I can turn my sound up LOUD and then stand outside with the doors closed. You would never believe how loud it is inside from what you hear outside. I'm guessing it cuts down the sound by 2/3's. So i'm guessing it keeps out 2/3's of the outside noise into the car. I would really need some type of sound meter to justify the sound reduction.

The only thing i would change is how much Peal & Seal i put down. I bought a 18"x34' roll for $35 at a local roofing supply. I should have bought the 36"x34' roll. That way out could have lined the floor with peal & seal and the thermozite. I ran out of Peal & seal at the end because of all i used in the trunk. Ifyou dont care about added weight and you want to roll like a lexus...get the larger roll of peal and seal (if doing trunk and cabin) and put the thermozite all over.

nice thread jack

Looking at the following:

Source: factory bmw or W200 + iPod
Amps: Zapco DC650.6 and DC750.2
Front: DLS Ultimate Iridium 6.3
Subs: 2 x ID10v3

So, all the processing is done by the amplifiers in the digital domain. Balanced outs from the headunit can be used by the zapco, or I have BLT's if I go with the Alpine. Subs sealed in a fiberglass box in the corner of the trunk, midbasses ib in the doors, midranges in the kicks - the only question is tweeters in kicks or a-pillars.

So, pretty similar to the older setup - I got away from the horns - with some better positioning of the speakers and a little more power total. Also making things more simple with the zapco amps, rather then external processor.

All in all, I've alredy got the speaker locations worked out, and she stages and images really great. Just a matter of building it better then last time.
