Default GSX-R 750, Honda 600 F4i or Honda 929RR?

I about to go bike shopping and looking for a well rounded bike. My friend has a GSX-R 1000 and sold it because it was too fast. What do you recommend? My riding experience is limited, so keep that in mind.

Kawi Super Sherpa

You are not going to get insurance for the RR, Gixxer or the F4i at your age.

i am sure there will be a liquidation sale on the shuttle some time soon. we're bidding on some of the subsystems for the replacement.

I was driving motorcycles from when I was 15 too, no accidents (on the street), no big troubles. BUT, yes, dont get anything over 250cc. I would get something like a 50cc YSR or a 80cc CRM or something like that to begin with (NSR, TZM, and stuff would be nice if you can get a hold of them). It would teach you a lot more than starting with a big bike, in terms of, handling, mechanics, and tracks use.
GSX-R, F4i, 929RR, is not the best bike to start with, especially at your age. (im saying this from my experience being 15, and still 18).

I started with a small bike that i still have, called KSR I had to convince my parents for about 6months till i got it, but I was lucky since my dad loves motorcycles as well. They said I can buy it if I go on a road trip with my father, which was no problem for me.
the KSR goes around 140km/h max and that was fast enough at the point. I learned the basics of a motorcycle and basics of track (braking point, engine brake, line etc) with this bike. I still have it, and im thinking of selling it
Then comes the NSR250 which was hrm.... not too fast until it gets into the power band, then it explodes like **** (the ksr was a 2-stroke too, but the power curve is way differnt)
This thing caused some few problems when i first started riding it.
Anyway, so id get something really small first.

I say for your first bike look and see if you can find a turbo busa, or a gixxer 1000 with a turbocharger.

Why start small when you are gonna want to upgrade in the future for something bigger.

Seriously, look into something like a ninja 250 or a suzuki gs500 or yamaha seca II.

Not too much power, and not too many expensive plastics to worry about replacing for when you do fall. It is the inevitable, gravity WILL get the best of you some time or another.

Spend the money and invest in some good riding gear. Shorts and a tshirt aint gonna cut it.

My buddy keith's arms look like someone took a cheese grater to em. Moron didnt have his jacket and helmet on when he went down one of the times. The other time he had his helmet on but not a jacket.

Mmmm, crunchy road rash.

Eh? Why start small? cause hes too young to ride big bikes yet. Ive been through it, if i did ride a bigger bike when i was 15, im sure i would have caused an accident.
start really small, get used to a motorcycle, then go big, as big as you want.
yeah, and be sure NEVER ride your motorcycle with a t-shirt. even if its hot like **** outside. Id say no to normal long sleeves as well. wear something a little more protective. wouldnt want to end up sraping your skin up eh?

er...limited riding experience, 15 years old and cant decide if a 929 etc will do.....hahahahahahahaha, what is going on with the world today????

Im messing with you, but why do so many people just not get what happens when you twist the throttle bolted to four injectors and between 100 and 140 HP is turned on?
Maybe though you can ride, and age isnt a barrier, but you have said experience is limited so lets forget about all the above choices. Stick with what the others are telling you and go for a 250/400 something or other. GPX 250 is OK and will do the job.

u guys should lay off of him. like everyone has said he is 15. realistically he isnt getting any of these bikes. 1. he cant afford them himself 2. no place on this green earth would insure him 3. he is just babbling about what bike he would dream of having. i have been riding bikes since i was like 3 years old when i got my yz50. i have been riding for years and i thought i wanted a bike when i turned 16. i worked a shop in the summer and rode around the place. sayin that a 600F4i isnt much cause its a 600 is easy to say until you twist it and that thing takes off like hell. if he really was gonna get anyone of those bike i would say the f4i though. sorta heavy for a 600 and least power. guaranteed he would get spit by the other 2 before he left the parking lot. but if he does get one of those bikes write us back so i can smack the **** out of your parents.

peace

The gixxer, F4i and 929 were just ideas. Please give me more input.

Seriously, if you havent ridden before get something without plastics. Start with something small so it doesnt get you into more trouble than you can handle.

Start with something like a ninja 250/500
Suzuki gs500
yamaha seca II
yamaha fzr 400/600
or even an enduro.

Whatever you get, if it has plastics, take em off. For a set of plastics for a f4i, 929, or gsxr750 from the dealer is about 3-4 thousand dollars. That's why you see so many of them totalled, the dealer wants almost half the cost of a new bike for the plastic fairings go figure......

Please invest in leathers and a helmet, it doesnt matter if you are going to speed or not. It matters what surface your skin hits when the bonehead car driver hits YOU.....

Take a msf course while your at it.

ok your 16 and have a ITR right?!?

as if that wasn't enough power and/or speed for you you want to get a bike...so you want a sportbike. Let me tell you don't get a sportbike as your first bike, especially at your young age, you'll end up getting yourself killed...NO JOKE!

Start out on a dual sport, or something like a ninja250/500 or GS500. Maybe even a SV650s if you want something a lil'sporty.

I'd say stay away from anybike with plastic cus it costs way to much to replace WHEN you drop it, but from what I can see, money doesn't matter much to you or maybe even your family, but your LIFE should. so start out small and once you get familiar with riding and know the different charicaristics bikes have from cars then move up to you dream liter bike.

I'm in So. Cali too and don't want to be reading about another dead motorcyclist in the morning paper!!!

I've ridden back seat on a 929RR, that thing is scary fast (just thinking about it gets my heart racing) and definately not for a beginner. I've ridden back seat on a Ninja 600 I think, it was a bit more sane than the 929, but it still might be a bit too much for a beginner. Do like they say and get like a 250 for a few years. Hell, my dad won't even let me get a bike. Not enough respect on the road for them and people won't watch out for you. He said he's worked several bike accidents, and none where the biker survived or wasn't paralyzed. My cuz just got a brand new Ninja ZX-7R, and I'm worried, cuz I don't know how much experience he has with bikes. But I've heard in Spain it's a different story. People move over so the bikes can pass.
