motor swap
For 3000, you could get another ls swap. A GSR swap is going to be a lil more than that. He could drop a b16 in it, but I wouldn't recommend it, because that's the route I went, and I couldn't be more dissatisfied with it. The b16 is gutless. I'd suggest with his 3000, he build a LS-VTEC. He'd make a lot of power with that. If built right, it'll last, and some have made more than 200whp! I'd either do that, or turbo the stock LS.

i was happy with my b16 swap in my DA
it really depends on the tranny you get.
there was a guy on HT from new zealand w/ a completly stock XSI that went 14.7 1/4 mile. so the motor isn't that slow, and it is faster than an LS. its also fun to rev to 8k.
with 3000 you could get a b16 swap and rebuild your LS bottom end so you could mix match some things for a PR3 piston, ls/vtec with an S1 or J1 tranny. that'd be fun. probably make 165ish whp.

You could buy the b16 and use the pistons and head on the ls block for a nice lsvtec or shop wisely and you could get a pretty nice turbo setup for that ls. then later on save some cash for some forged internals and turn up the boost.
