Default rebuilding zc to swap... is it worth it?

I have a zc motor in my garage. when i bought my first civic, i had it for 2 weeks and the engine started knocking without any warning. Well i ran slap out of oil. which was odd b/c no oil light came up and i checked it a week b4 and it was fine. Anyway, I haven't busted into the engine yet. But I was just wondering if it would even be worth the effort. I know i need new rods and bearings. I don't think the crankshaft is screwed b/c i changed the oil, well filter after the madness went down and it ran. Sounded good at idle but, the more you revved the more it knocked but still not a very loud knock from what i remember. So other than the possibility that i only need new rods and bearings, i would also need new seals and a couple gaskets, and distributor. i have a 91 4 spd now with dpfi. would i need a new wiring harness or could i modify it? and i don't think i have a zc tranny b/c it maxxed out at like 105 and it has that center piece for the axles which was different than the zc tranny i ordered when i did a new swap. the code is L3 2094466. so i might not need new axles? but would i need new hubs? shift linkage? i know i need a ecu. if yall know what your talking about how much do you think id spend for the swap w/out labor. thanks.

i dunno about new rods, but youre going to need a new set of bearings and machining on the crank. its a good idea to strip the block and have it cleaned cuz you want all that metal shaving **** outta there. the rod ends may need re machining in which case youre right: it will be cheaper to replace them.

all in all its very easy to spend 3k on a rebuild with YOU doing all the work and buying parts and machining labor.

youll have to take the motor down in any event to inspect the damage, the costliest part for me was the crank work, that ended up in the 250's i think.

IMO I would not rebuild a ZC. The cheapest and most sure way to have a running ZC is to buy another for 500-700.
