Default head gasket maybe?? help??

hello, im rarely in the prelude section, usually in EF or integra but anyway, thats beside the point...

alright, my girlfriend drives a 1994 prelude si automatic... the other day she came over cause we were putting catback exhaust on her car... i put it up on the lift and i noticed the whole back of the motor (towards the firewall) and all over the tranny was covered in brown stuff, looks like motor oil, but it could be mixed with something, i dont know.

anyway, before i put it up in the air, i checked the oil and it had bubbles in it. i dont know what that is but the first thing that popped into my mind was the head gasket....

knowing the symptoms, does anyone have any input on this, or what to check out on it. she is comming over again today so we can check it out more, but i was looking for some input about what to look for, or what anyone thinks this could be.

for all i know, it could even be a hose/line leaking, or anything along the lines of that. i also heard h23 heads crack often??? i dont know, but any help would be greatly appreciated...

thanks

if she put to much oil in the oil will foam which isnt good... check the radiator if it looks milky or if the oil itself looks a little milky like coolant is in there then head gasket... is it running rouch at all?

here's an easy way to find out exactly where the leak is, if there is one at all. get a bunch of paper towels and wipe down the back of the motor, try to clean as much as you can from underneath and from the top as well. turn the motor on and let it run for a few seconds. turn off the motor and look around for any liquid coming from any gaskets. it could just be gunk built up over the years, her car is pretty old after all.

alright well, i looked at it today, and im pretty sure its comming from the cam seal. it was all wet underneath that, so i brake cleaned it and put the coil back on. i told her to drive it around and we will check it again in a week.

the coolant looks great, and i do all her oil changes and stuff, so the oil definatly wasnt overflowed. and it runs great, so at first i thought it might be a head gasket, but im now leaning away from that.

and the oil on the engine looks recent, so time will tell i guess

so im thinking its the cam seal, anyone ever had a problem with theirs??

p.s. drum set looking to get around 400

The Intake cam seal(plug) on the tranny side of the engine is very common to leak.
