engine VIN number ? is it the same
hi I have a d16y7 engine...
does the # that appears below where it says D16y7, that number is it supposed to be the same VIN # as the car ? Or am I looking at the wrong VIN # of the engine
also, in the transmission, there is a sticker with some numbers....... Are they all need to be the same ??

the number under that is the serial # of the motor

so If the VIN of my car is : JHMED9366KS001030, then in the engine belod D16y7 ( if the motor hasnt changed,,,example) its supposed to have: JHMED9366KS001030

i thought that engine serial numbers and vin's were related, but you would have to talk to honda or go through some other channels to find out if the engine had been swapped. i think that cops can find engines that have been chopped out stolen cars buy matching vin and serial numbers.
so, I found some info on this
the VIN number of the car has to be related with the VIN of the engine.... which is located is on the block on front of the radiator and on top of the oil pan
