crx motor swaps
i am probley goin to purchase a crx from a kid in town with no motor.. i considered taking my d16y8 out of my 96 civic then just gettin a b series for my coupe... is there any problems i will get into by puttin the d16y8 into the crx. motor and transmission probley. what would i need .. my plans for the crx is to gut everything.. i mean everything.. what times should i see with the d16y8 into the crx. the engines got all bolt ons. i was thinging maybe low 15's maybe high 14's

well, if you whant performance from one of the cars. Use the B series engine on your CRX........ you will be faster with a crx than a coupe if they both have the same engine.
and also, you only need to swap once.....
I recommend a b18c1 block and a b16 head.... For the B series, you need axles, ecu, wiring, sensors, motor, transmision, motor mounts, etc

If you want to put the Y8 in the CRX, the motor and the tranny will drop right in. If it's a DX, you need to convert to MPFI. You will also need to activate VTEC with the Y8, use the ECU out of the coupe and you should be all set. Nobody can tell you what times you will see, go to a track and find out. I agree that putting the B in the CRX is a much better plan, you will have a much faster car and you only have to swap once.
