Well, I'll tell you this: I've owned a handful of "muscle" cars; a 1974 Nova, 1979 Trans Am, 1981 Turbo Trans Am, 1983 Trans Am, and a 1992 Mustang 5.0, then I bought a CRX, because it was cheap and good on gas. I soon realized that this "practical" car was a hell of a lot more fun to drive than any V8 car I'd driven.

Yeah, the Mustang was a lot faster, but the CRX felt like a racecar without even breaking the speed limit. When you're sitting a few inches off the ground in a tiny car, driving is just more exciting. Plus, even though CRXs are getting up there in age, they're still remarkably reliable. They are fairly simple cars and are easy to fix when/if they do break.
If you don't mind the lack of a back seat, I think dollar for dollar, a CRX is the best car out there. I have also owned 2 EG hatches, and frankly they don't compare to the CRX.

i love my crx. I've driven lots of fast cars, including 500hp mustangs, built hatches, built DSM's, built Tegs, built WRXes and they don't compare. I got a new job and I'm finally going to finish my car this year and according to my latest spreadsheet it is gonna be 18k, so yeah I love my modded CRX. You have to love something worth 3k to dump that kinda money into and still have it worth 3k.

Lets put it this way: After driving a 2005 Lotus Elise through an autocross course I decided that if that was $45K worth of fun, then my lightly modded CRX must be worth $35K.

The CRX definitely is a car that appeals to its driver on MANY levels...
- I took home a SCCA Southwest Divisional 1st place championship with my 91 CRX Si...
- and also hauled home a new Maytag washer in the back of it....
- still gets at least 30mpg...
- still has the original motor...
- still have it completely paid off, including mods
- still turns heads in its stock-but-lowered cosmetic state.

There's a reason there's a cult around these cars. Are you ready to commit to simplicity?

It's easily the funnest import I have ever driven. My wife drives a del sol and it just feels like crap compared to my 90 Si.

Hey Fireant,

Is that your CRX in your avatar?? What size are those Enkei RPF1's??

It's a rocket. haha

My Crx only has springs, shocks, header, and exhaust and it is a ton of fun to drive. All the stock crx has some bad body roll but with suspension work it hadles pretty good. I will have my brother post pics of his crx with stock suspension during an autocross.

I HATE CRXs THERE UGGGGLLYYY!!!! Yuck!!

well i have a 97 limited edition celica that i dumped 15 thousand into. I bought a body kit rims lowered it big spoiler tein suspension DVD player and all that crap. The car was too low and would scrape on everything. i didnt want to drive it in the snow so i bought a thousand dollar "Beater" -CRX

the crx was supposed to be a winter car. it lasted 1 winter with a broken axle. I let a friend borrow it for a weekend and when i got it back the engine would over heat. the car soon konked out and was sitting beside my house for the whole summer. so after saving up all my money i put a B18C in from japan with a y1 transmission.I used to love modifying my celica but after getting the honda it has been my new hobby. instead of chatting with people on the celica fourms i come here instead

I use the celica to pick up chicks in
And i use the CRX to spank everyone with

So yea I love my CRX

heres a link to pics of my car over the past 1/2 year *update it has spoon wheels* CLICK>>>> http://community.webshots.com/user/projectcrx101

Drifting is way overrated. And if it weren't for initial d the corolla would just be another junker.

CRX is easily one of the best FWD cars out there. Its right up there with the original Mini Cooper.

I had an 86, and I loved it. But the difference is, I still have my CRX.

Agreed. Driving a well set up CRX is like heaven on Earth. Seriously. The CRX has MANY virtues, including:

1. Light weight (at least early models of low trim)
2. WIDE variety of engine choices from mild to wild
3. HUGE aftermarket
4. Handles like no other Honda. Also handles better than cars costing MUCH more
5. GREAT fuel economy - even with LOTS of power under the hood
6. TONS of cargo room. This small car can haul stuff that some SUVs can't
7. TONS of legroom. This small car actually accommodates large people quite well
8. Cheap to buy, modify, and insure
9. If you are into car audio, a CRX can bump like no other with even a fairly modest setup.

Sometimes I wonder if it's all been worth it.

I have a few grand in the suspension, a B18C4, a bunch of bolt ons and electronic gizmo's. But it just doesn't seem to be as much fun as when I was rocking my cheapo Toyo tires and a B16 on a lightly modded suspension.

But than I beat on a porsche boxter 6 times the value of my 15 year old shitbox, and all is forgiven.
