Default Speedometer with jumping needle problem

My speedometer have been acting up lately. The needle have been bouncing up and down and recently it like to stay at 0 mph even when I am driving at freeway speeds.

Any technical advise?

To more fully answer your question, the answer is most likely your vehicle speed sensor (vss). Basically its a piece that has a shaft with a little gear on the end that sticks into the transmission. You'll need to pull it out and pick all of the junk caked around it off, and then clean it really well with some simple green or some parts cleaner and pop it back in.

The vss is located at the top of the tranny near the back, sticks straight up, has an electrical plug on it, and is directly behind the starter. To get it out you need to remove the tall 10mm bolt and then pull up and twist clockwise on the vss. DO NOT REMOVE ANY OTHER BOLTS!!
