Alpine MRD-500.....good speaker amp?
There is no MRD-500, however there is a MRD-M500 a 500W into 2 ohms at 14.4V mono block sub amp. and unless you like your high-pass in mono it's not the amp you need

Well I will assume they are SPR-17LP 6.5" 2way coax, a 50W rms speaker. so a 4x50W rms amp would be the way to go, like this http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...-F345 or maybe the MRP-F450 4x70W rms into 4ohms at 14.4V, a little extra power can't hurt.

He'll be back here in two months wondering why the speakers blew , even though he had the gains turned all the way up.

Crutchfield is always good. They have excellent customer service. But why don't you try to find a dealer on the dealer locator?

I do agree, use an authorized dealer, and a local retail shop will give you the best service, this is also a good time to pick up some 05 product, dealers should be blowing it out the doors, with full warranty.

OK. Let us answer some questions first.
1)what is your budget?
2)what is your primary focus? Bass , Sound Quality , a little of both?do you plan on competeing?
3)how much space do you need?or want to keep?
4)what kind of music do you listen to?
5)do you want it to be "showy" or "stealthy"?
6)are you looking to be brand coordinated?
Answer those and I could be more helpful. Or what do you have now?

Your car powers your IVA-D900. Your IVA-D900 powers your speakers or sends that signal to an amp so the amp can power the spkrs. Your amp cannot power your headunit, it's kinda the other way around (almost)

Take my word for it, two type X 10" subs is probably not what you want, the Alpine SWX-1042D are DVC 4 ohm 1000W rms subs you are going to need 2000W of rms power to drive them properly, and $1000 for subs and $1000 to $1700 for 2 Alpine amps to run them
If you are going to use an MRV-F450 an Alpine 04 amp, 4x50W rms into 4 ohms @ 14.4V, [good for your high-pass speakers] then a good balance for sub bass is 3 times the high-pass power, high-pass is 200W so sub bass should be around 600W rms, so a pr. of Alpine http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...1022D @ $150 US would be a better bet and drive them with an Alpine http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...-M605 @ $400 US

I don't know why people insist on trying to power things to the max? What is the efficiency on those subs? How well does it use one watt to produce sound? I have 2 RF hx2's and they only got about 150 a piece and they were still amazingly loud. Just because he is not putting 1000 watts to them , does not mean they won't still "bump".
