Default Long Highway Trips in an S2k?

How does your S2000s handle long highway trips? Would you consider it a cop magnet and is it comfy for long trips? Anyone feel worn out by the time they get there?

Also since most SUV drivers now are laying the pedal down, do you run faster to stay in front ? What kinda speed do you run on the highway and what are your revs at say 80 mph?

it's not very comfy... but it's doable... and yes it's a cop magnet... but it's small you can hide behind semi-trucks.....

i just take it to 80mph drop it in 6th gear and put the cruse control on.....

I just took mine on a trip that was about 300 miles one way. Definately had to stop once and stretch but it's fun on the highway. Depending on what color your car is depends on how much of a cop magnet it is. Fortunately mine is boring ole Silverstone. And just like Papa said, just go 80 and set the cruise. If I remember correctly, the r's are around 4500 at 80mph. What I did also, was to pace behind the fastest car about 75 yards back so I had time to slow down in case of a cop and to keep from getting gravel chips.

its alright for long trips, but my back gets sore sometimes. 80 mph is around 4200 i think. but i rarely take it on long trips.

I think they're great on the open road! You have so much control on the highway; more than the large majority of autos out there. I usually go 7 or 8 mpr over the speed limit so that I don't find myself spending more time watching for the police than the road. And yes, they are a eye catcher for the police. Driving in Indiana (I was going from B.G., KY to Manitowoc, WI.) a new chevy, sporty truck went flying by and what I thought trying to egg me on. I didn't take the bait, because I noticed that there was a state trooper some distance behind me!

I've taken the S from LA to SF a few times. I do about 75-80 to save gas... No problems with comfort.

I am 6' and 180 lbs so I should fit ok. I do alot of highway runs (about 200 mile seach way) on the PA Turnpike and wanted to know how the S2k would stack up to my current car FXT/STI. The FXT is nice and quiet but doesn't ride or drive like the double wish bone Hondas. (I miss my old GSR sometimes).

Anyone have a hardtop ? How does this cut down on wind and road noise?

[I have a factory hard top and it cuts road and wind noise substancially. Not to mention, it looks cool. I'm 5'11", 165 and I have room to spare.....

my exhaust drones. i put in my silencer and drove 600 miles north, and on the way back i stepped on the gas and heard my exhaust...then i looked in my rear view mirror to the site of my silencer bouncing down the freeway.

its nice to drive tho, i like it a lot.

There you go again with your MickeyMousing. Don't you know duct tape fixes everything?

it's OK...for long trips, i get sore and i can't lean by and drive all gangster like.

the only gripe i have is, driving @ 4200 rpm for a long constant duration. It just doesn't feel natural. I keep thinking it's gonna blow

True, but having an exhaust that makes a nice deep sound with no drone helps... Keep in mind that 4000rpm is the S2000's "low end".

I haven't had any issues with long drives in my S. I did too many road trips this summer:

Road trip 1:
Philly to Chicago
Chicago to Omaha
Omaha to Chicago
Chicago to Toronto
Toronto to Philly

Many trips from philly to toronto and back, more than i can remember.

Philly to florida, all the way down to key west, then back

Theres a few other shorter trips (2-4hrs) that I have done in the car as well. No complaints here. Whenever you stop for gas or food, be sure to stretch. The only gripe I had was my legs but that might be due to the fact I don't have cruise control in my car.

This car has cruise control? I was told to use throttle control instead.

Ive taken my car on the some long trips, im 5'11" 180 pounds, and after 300 miles im starting to get a little unhappy. Mostly with leg room. It gets cramped.

Gets okay gas milage on the freeway though. When i was coming back from vegas i did the whole trip, 303 miles, on one tank. I was on empty when i got home, but i was getting 25mpg doing 80-85 the whole way.

I have to disagree.

My friend and I made a trip to Denver last week, and came back all in one day. A little under 8 hours one way with the stops to fill up the small 12.1 gallon tank, 560 miles one way....1120 mile round trip. I was expecting it to be uncomfortable, but it really was not. I am a tolerant person, however, and the portable DVD player we had along with us probably helped the trip go smoother. All in all we were gone 21 hours and really had a good time. We even played around with a Porsche 996 Carrera too on the way.

So most of you guys are running exhausts and some hardtops? What exhausts are the quietest and best sounding for S2ks. I have looked into hard tops and it seems they are $$$$$
