Welding flange to stock mani
I drive a hyundai and it would be easier for me to just get a turbo flange welded on my stock manifold, only problem is its cast. Does anyone have any pics of welded cast manifolds and perhaps some hints. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The turbo is going to be a 14b since my engine is so small and weak lol. Thank you!
there is no flange to apply the adapter plate to, its kinda like a focus manifold if you have ever seen one, it has a cataltic converter welded or formed into it.
Which Hyundai? There may be manifolds available for it from Kuk performance in Korea. Talk to Bill Hurlin at bhurlin@kfxperformance.com.
Otherwise get a log manifold made. The hardest part is getting the head flange machined. Send a gasket to James at BMC racing (pm BmCRace.com) and he can make you some.
BTW, the cat is stir welded onto the cast iron manifold. If you simply cut the cat off below the weld, you can weld a flange to it easily because it is stainless steel from that point on. The problem is that the turbo will be too low to make the oil drain on the turbo good.

i wouldnt do it..you'll run in to problems with fitting the turbo in nicely, and dp issues....it'll be alot harder to do a custom dp with it...just buy one..there should be manifolds out there for your application..
