OK so i swapped in a z6 motor in my eg hatch and at idle my car sounds like it has a aftermarket cam, it chaps really really bad and puffs smoke, any ideas?

start simple
check plugs/rotor

I'm not sure what chapping is; but what is the smoke like? Have you fully warmed up the motor, and does it still smoke after that?

 

plugs are black but i cleaned them and they turned back the same, the rotor and cap are good. and the smoke is black. it idles like a rotary brap brap brap

It's running very, very rich then. You need to get it tuned; the timing is probably way off.

 

lol yeah i'll warm it up

 

the timing is on for sure, and it does the same thing when its warm

 

any other sugestions?
