Default EK9 Navi questions...

I've been trying out find out more info on these systems and how they work in a USDM car/how they function in the U.S. Obviously the navigation itself won't work, nor will the radio, but will the cd player and the climate control work? Judging by the pictures I'm gonna assume it's an electronic climate control like our 99-00's so it should hook up right? I've also heard both stories on the cd player, some say they work and others don't. I'm lookin for some of you Cali stunnas to come in here and help me out, thanks fellas!

Some random pics...

out of pure curiosity...why buy it, if most of its functions are useless?

If you know what your doing, im sure you can make the screen good for video, since it would be otherwise pretty useless. Install a regular radio down below.

so spend more money than you even have to, just to have some oh so neat -must-be-cus-its-jdm piece of mostly useless electronic crap?

and it doesnt really set you apart...ive seen those on quitea few cars....anything JDM now, no longer sets you apart..it makes you just like the rest.

You can get the radio to work with a radio frequency converter or some device, also are the Navigation systems for the Acuras pre-2003 have DVD or CD-ROM based Navigation systems?

:edit:

forget that, they were DVD

:re edit:

WAIT! Apperently, the 1996 RL had a navigation option, and DVD was not a pervailiant format until the late 90s, and HDD probably wasnt used either since in the mid-90s HDD format maxed out at around 2GB, so it may be CD-ROM, but I cant find any info on it.

we put one in my homies car. cost him $600 but was cheaper than paying $2000 for the eclipse nav unit he wanted. another guy did the conversion to run US radio (he does it all jdm decks all the time) and we put my mom's 2001 TL nav cd in and it works. it didn't work with a 2005 TL nav cd probably because of the firmware. the only complicated part was running the nav satelite antenna but that wasnt hard. climate control was plug n play. he doesnt have the car anymore and sold it to another guy here on ht but Ill ask him if he has any picts from it.

Honestly dude, yes I would be happy to spend 400 bucks on something that will play a cd in my car and look good doing it. For someone who puts maybe 5k a year on they're car and doesn't listen to the radio to begin with, why not? I can't remember the last time I drove my car, it's really only driven when it's nice out so why should I give a **** for the rest of the options? And excuse me, but I've seen several shots from the so-cal/nor-cal scene and i haven't seen many of these in cars, so explain to me how this is a waste of $$ compared to you spendin the same amount on a fresh set of Rota's? Oh **** I shouldn't have.

SiR:Mallard has succesfully put this into his EK 4door. Everything is fully functional also, requires a full dash harness from a JDM EK, forget which model. Hit em up.

I've seen that unit fly from one owner to another and then another on ebay... I think most people buy it in hopes of it working and then give up and end up putting it up on ebay again... LOL. Don't waste your time.
