You can reuse your transmission, but it'll slow down your acceleration by a lot. You'll need to get the right ECU. The real F22B ECU is hard to find, but an H23 P14 will work. Just gotta add a knock sensor. Although you will run a little rich. Anyway, unless you're boosting, the F22B isn't any better then the H23

i would recomend getting atleast the h23 ecu but the h23 ecu looks for a knock sensor and the f22b doesnt have one so you would have to put one on there. if you could get your hands on a jdm f22b ecu that would be best. im not to sure whats up with the wiring i know you can use it but im not sure if you might have to extend some wires or not and your f22a1 trans will work but your gears will be really long. if that helps at all.

alright... main thing I'm looking for a cheap way out of a bad whole... my F22a1 recently seized up.... and I'm not rich... and I'm trying to save money to move back to texas cuz colorado sux, and I was gonna get a h23 but than someone told me about the f22b thats like half the price of the h23 heres the info I've been told

I can have to get the p14 ecu but I'll have to run a few wires that my car doesn't have... and that I should clamp the knock sensor whatever that means.... my tranny will work, wiring harness will work just will have to run a few wires that my harness didn't have but the ecu needs and that should be it and it will run fine.... my only question in whats my safest more affordable route? thanks for the help guys/gals (just in case)

if you dont mind doing a lil extra work then go ahead and get the f22b its alot of fun. you wont be upset. then down the road you can turbo it or do what ever you want but i guarantee itll be alot more fun then the f22a1. good luck

Go with the JDM F22B. It has a block perfect for boost, and more reliable than an H23 block. Plus its "like half the price".

The F22B was a japanese lude engine. We got the H23, they got the F22B. For an ecu, you have a few options. You can thread a knock sensor into the block and use a p14. However, you will run rich because the h23 has 9.8:1 compression and the f22b has 9.1:1 compression. You could mil the head .020" and that should give you a 9.8:1-9.9:1 c/r. However milling the head will require you to buy cam gears, when you could spend the money on a p39 which is made for the engine. You could also chip a p06, which would probably be the most expensive route, but a good choice if you are going turbo in the future. I think the only place to get the engine anymore is on ebay.

"i'm the girl" on cb7tuner.com sold me a p39 for $105 shipped. You might contact her.

It's a real easy swap. Just deciding what ecu to use is the hard part. I recomend the p39. It's the most cost effective.

No, the p39 doesn't look for a knock sensor, because the f22b doesn't have high enough compression to require one. A knock sensor is in the block and it retards timing when it senses detonation.
