Car not starting; alarm problems
Hi, I just got a used 02 accord se, and the first owner installed a Chapman alarm. I've had the car for 4 days and thought the alarm was annoying because it randomly goes off. Well today when I got in the car after it sitting there for 30 min. it would not start. It didn't make a clicking noise, just would not turn over or make a sound. The alarm had been blinking when I got in and put the key in, but I turned it off before trying to start it. After it wouldn't start, the alarm kept blinking, and then went off when I got out. This was a few hours ago; I tried jump starting for an hour and all I got were dim lights that got dimmer after trying to start it.
it seems like the alarm sucked the power out of the battery (it's a new battery, nothing wrong with connections either). I've had 3 random people look at it, and all they can come up with is that maybe the alarm went off earlier and drained the battery so I need a new one, but I don't know why it won't jump. I disabled the alarm and want to take it out altogether but I need to start it first so I can take it to a best buy. any help on this would be appreciated. thanks.

Never heard of Chapman until I started frequenting this forum... Not good stuff from what I can tell....
Pull that crap out, and if you're concerned about security, install something from a reputable manufacturer, ie, Compustar or DEI (Viper/Clifford)....

thanks. I know by now that I don't want that alarm anymore. I will probably get a clifford. But now the only problem is getting it started so I can take it to get a new alarm...should be interesting.
Try this, connect up the booster or other car, make sure the connections are good, start by pulling and cleaning and reconnecting the batt. term. on your car, you must have bright lights on your car before your car will turn over, or you are able to turn off or use valet switch to over ride the alarm, an alarm that was armed when batt. went dead, [for whatever reason] will stay armed until turned off, and can't be if voltage is low.
If the remote will not turn off the alarm you will have to use the valet switch to turn it off, and if there is "starter cut" it will not turn over until alarm is disarmed, the other thing is to get under the dash and find alarm brain and unplug it

hey thx for the help. I ended up going back to the car today and trying for like another horu to jump start it. We got it charged up enough to turn the lights/music on (better than last night), but it still would not start. I had to take the battery out, take it to autozone and recharge it, then put it back in, and it started. Now I'm getting that alarm taken out and putting in a viper. this is all because I sat in my car for more than 2 minutes before trying to start it, so the car armed itself.
