If they aren't perfect, the car will use up unnecessary blinker fluid and/or muffler bearings.

The non-smart-*** answer is "no". My unprofessional advice is, just do the best you can and keep the length close to the ram-horn style manis. Chances are you wont be building a setup where it really really matters.
