i just got a 88 crx si. Theres rust on the lower rocker panel under the doors.I don't want to cut it all out. If i sand blast it, then treat it with rust ****. The lay fiberglass over it and the undercoat it will it come back????

 

The key to rust is eliminating it completely like sandblasting... Then the next step is a rust inhibitor (not crappy ole rustoleum).. I would suggest a product called Por15. You can buy it on the web. I restore old cars for aliving (actually have no interest in hondas but I really like this weld/fab forums section) and we use it all the time. Technically you dont need to take out the rust with por15 but I still suggest it. Use muratic acid (pool suppy store) or you can buy it from por15 and clean the fresh metal really well. Por 15 needs a porus surface so dont smooth the metal after blasting. Clean it, rinse it and paint on the por15. You can lay up fiberglass (i would just use Dynaglass) and be done
