Default Do I need an new alternator for my obd1 swap?

I'm swapping a d15z1 (jdm version at least) into my 89 LX. While I was looking at the pinouts for my conversion harness I saw that there is an extra wire going to the alternator. I was confused so I checked honda's website.

The civic VX (the original owner of the d15z1) has five alternators available. The 89 LX has 2. none of the part numbers correspond.

VX - 31100-P08-003RM , 31100-P08-004 , 31100-P08-014 , 31100-P08-014RM , 31100-P08-024RM

89 LX - 31100-PM8-A01RM, 31100-PM8-A01RM

After talking with someone they mentioned that the VX (perhaps other cars as well) have an extra wire to the alternator. His assumption is that it is used to help keep idling low so the gas mileage will be much higher (my ultimate goal, and the goal of the civic VX).

Do I need to find myself an alternator from a civic VX? Does anyone know about the third wire (A16 on the p07 ECU)?

So the ONLY difference is the five wire o2? I've been told that there are more differences than that on the p07 ECU.

If you're right you just made my day.

The more I'm looking at this the more I think I'll just pay someone to make it for me. As long as they know to include the EGR and five wire o2 I should be okay.
