Default What type of nasty fluid did Honda put in this thing?

I have a busted driver side motor mount which splattered the fluid inside it all over the engine bay. Whatever it touched, it permanently stained it. The oily substance eats into whatever it comes in contact with. It will not come off even with Simple Green and scrub pads.

Exactly what type of fluid is this?

Nope, won't come off at all. The underside of my hood also got splattered with this junk. It is like permanent marker....... once it's on, it's on there forever.

The rubber part ruptured which caused the fluid to splatter. I thought it was composed of solid rubber. I never knew it was liquid filled. I'll be replacing the whole mount soon.

The mount is filled with anti-freeze/water. It's a fluid filled mount and when they bust the fluid which has rusted over time, will splatter all over. Good luck getting it off, the underside of the hood and engine bay is not clear coated and the paint will come off with any real harsh chemical.

First time I broke one, I thought I had blown a HG, looking everywhere for the leak smelling the antifreeze and seeing the splatter but the exhaust was good and no smoke lol. Took me like 30 minutes to figure out what happened, stressed the hell out of me.

So it will still absorb vibration when it's below freezing out.

mine went when i had a b16 swapped in my 96 coupe - i believe they use the same driver's side mount. must have been all that extra torque.

since replaced with a hasport replacement mount.
