Air Conditioning Question.
Is the gas mileage the same when having your AC on and the fan on the lowest speed and when having the fan on the highest speed? I am thinking that if the AC is on, the AC is on, so that the fan speed wouldn't matter to the gas mileage. What is right?
well i dont think so bcause the compressor only runs at the speed the engine runs because it is belt driven. The air is thus not going to be as cold if your blower is blowing at a high setting. Thats how i see it anyways.
actually the compressor clutch engages depending on how much heat you add to the fluid through the evaporator. The higher the ac setting the faster heat is added to the refrigerant requiring the compressor to do more work. the clutch will engage more frequently with the ac on high.

Although in the end you won't see too much of a difference with overall milage if you have the fan set on 1 or if you have it set on 4. Just set it to your comfort level.
