Question, might buy an 95 Accord Coupe EX
I emailed the guy and he said that there is 104k miles on the used engine. He just bought an rsx and is selling his other car. He said he had to replace the engine for a used one because the timing belt gave out and something happened, he said it was cheaper to get a used engine instead of giving it a valve job.
Is this common for a timing belt to go out about a month ago on a 95 accord? he said he replaced the engine a month and a half ago. Body looks great and all, heres the link for the autotrader http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...27304
It looks great, im just worried that the engine is not gonna crap out on me and im gonna spend more money fixing it up.

Honda recommends (vehemently) Timing Belt replacements every 90k miles. Obviously your seller thought he could beat the odds; and didn't.
The question you should ask: was the timing belt replaced on the replacement engine b4 it was installed in the car you're looking at?
If not, I would HIGHLY recommend having it done. Either as part of the sale, or or an adjustment to the sale price.
Other than that, The cars a great ride. With recommended maintenance you could expect 300k miles from it.

If that's chassis milage (104k) and is as represented. $5100 would be what you could expect for a fully reconditioned vehicle at a dealership.
It will have no warranty (sold as is)
And then there's the question of the timing belt.........
If the car's clean and has a cyrrent inspection sticker, it could well be worth it.

i did a vin check and it says nothing on title and its clean, but he says different, im guessing the engine swap was not done through insurance so..........im pretty worried about it, going to go see it this saturday.
His insurance carrier would not have been involved in the engine failure.
It probably wouldn't have been covered by an aftermarket warranty policy either since it would have been considered owner neglect.
Carfax or any like organization would not have been notified.
The general condition of the car will be quite apparent once you start looking it over.
