Pin Stripe Removal
I have a Pearl White 2000 H22 and I was wondering what the best way to take off the pin stripe. Also, will the paint under it be a different color because of the sun and such?
well..i can tell you how i took the pinstripes off of my car and..if you learn anything from my rant..so be it..my car..white CRX/black pinstripes...
*use a heatgun or hair dryer to get the stripe warmed up(be careful with the heatgun though..you're just trying to soften the stripe so it will release the glue/adhesive and allow you to pull it off)
*razor blade(obviously be careful so you dont scratch your paint)..use this to get the stripe peeled up enough to get under it and slowly pull it off
*it's gonna take some patience because it will keep breaking and you'll have to get it started again(although your car is a 2000..shouldnt be as hard as my 16 year old car
)
*after you peel it off..use some Goo-Gone or cleaner/rubbing compound type stuff to get the rest of the sticker **** off.

I had a pinstripe on my old '90 DX sedan. I took it to a body shop and they took it off for me for $25. They used a heat gun and some cleaner to remove the residue. It took them about 10 min. and it looked perfect when they were done. Well worth the $25 to me.
I tried to have it done on a car before that one but whoever owned it before me originally has a painted pinstripe that faded so they covered it in a decal pinstripe. The bodyshop started to remove it and discovered the other one underneath so i couldnt have that one removed.

alright so i tried this on a tiny bit towards the rear of my car, but the part that canme up left a faint outline of where the pinstripe had been..do yuo guys have this? if so, how noticable is it with all of the stripe taken off?
or, how did you get rid of it? thanks.

when i worked at my old body shop, we used a eraser wheel to take off pinstripes and decals...took the pinstripe/decal off within a few mins...just have to wash and wax afterwards and be sure not to hodlthe eraser wheel in one spot for a few seconds or it would burn through the clear
heat gun and adhesive remover...i work at a body shop
your paint underneath it will look like new, so if the rest of your paint has faded at all, yes, you will be able to see a difference

eraser wheel works great , always be sure to check the whole car to make sure there was never clear put over the pin stripe, i see a lot of that.... very often there will be a part of a car someone brings to me with a part of the pin stripe cleared
So just double check the entire car before you remove any part of it .
Good luck .
