upper control arm help please
where can i buy replacement upper control arms for my 1990 civic sedan dx? Honda wanted $130 per side. Can i just change the ball joint? i read a post that said that you could just change the ball joints ont he 90-91 crx would this be true for the sedan?
I have the same problem, but I need new tie rods and ball joints. There's a kit I found on ebay for about $135 that has everything.......upper control arms, ball joints, tie rods, castle nuts....the works!
if you have 90-91 upper control arms, you can replace the balljoint. but you have to buy the balljoint from some where other than honda. i think SPC sells a replacement, non adjustable, balljoint.
if you have a 88-89, then the arms have a welded balljoint and cant be replaced separately. they made a change in 1990.
as for the tie rods, you have to buy the whole outer tie rod to replace the balljoint.

The 90-91 sedan can change out just the balljoint, but the cheapest ones are ~$36 per side. Mine were so bad when I looked at them, I didn't drive the car till I replaced them. One ball/stud actually came out when I was removing them
I overlooked them since I thought all the clunking was from bad tie-rods.
Anyways, I got some from that ebay Arm-Can guy. He had a diff. customer in WI ship me the arms, sicne he shipped him the wrong ones. My only issue was that they weren't stamped as well as the OEM arms when using an ingals camber kit. They rubbed a bit towards the front, and a bit on the end of the arms. A minute of hammering and grinding fixed it.
