Which EF-style Civic do you have, what motor combination, and what MPG?
Just looking to get out of the 13 MPG Dodge Ram I drive daily to save some money, and want to look into an EF Civic or CRX.
Just curious as to what you guys have do to your car and what your mileage is like. Want to know if mileage drops considerably with the replacing a D16A6 or the like with a B16A, DOHC ZC, B18A, etc...
BTW, dide search "MPG" and "gas mileage" before creating this thread...
So post up and help me with some research

I just did some reading on a forum called ef-honda.com and there's someone there that did an ef sedan with a d16y7 converted to dpfi. Said they got 50mpg out of the set up. I'll try and find the link for ya.
I get phenominal gas mileage in my civic on the highway. I calculated mile in l/100km since i'm in canada...
This is an 89 si hatchback with a ~190hp b16a installed
6.7L/100km highway
????? for city i just always keep it above 1/4

I image it might have an effect on it. Anything that adds friction will hurt mpg.
I have a 89 Civic Sedan and get high 30s low 40s in the summer time. I'm going to swap in a d15z1 engine soon (march maybe) which should get me above 50mpg.

It really depends on driving habbits... For arguments sake... my 94 Ford Explorer 4x4 goes half as far as my crx w b16 and uses twice as much gas
i had a b16 in my last hf crx that was gutted. it got 20-23 or so. that was of course before the effing theives got ahold of it. my new 88hf full interior with the si motor gets like 28 or so... hope that helps

90 civic hb, 92 d16z6, dc 4-1 header, no cat, ol skool hks exhaust, bored TB, aluminium flywheel, zc tranny, ol skool rs akimoto CAI.......and i get 270-290 mpg...?? ok so 280 divided by 11 wich are the capacity on the tank...equals to.....where's the equal botton....ok...25.45 miles per galon....wow...that sucks...
I'm in the process of tuning my fuel maps on the civic from my sig. I'm getting ~27mpg, and I have a propensity for really getting on the gas. WOT has been 11:1 or richer until I started adjusting
. I also have crappy tires on there w/bad alignment killing my milage.
That brings up the real points about gas milage - slower accelerating, a good tune (or o2 sensor), good tires/pressure, and a good alignment. Beyond that, you'll get 35+ mpg.
BTW, the stock D15B2 (90 LX dpfi) got crazy milage when I drove back from Chicago. Started w/full tank, drove 150 miles with it still above the full line.

Keep in mind that you don't empty the tank completely before you fill up - there is usually a 1 or 2 gallon reserve left when the gauge needle hits E.
To calculate average mpg, just fill your tank to the top and reset your trip odometer. Drive around a while, then refill your tank to the top. Take the miles you traveled and divide it by the amount of fuel that you pumped.
