Default 88 CRX dx (blew my motor) now what....

I blew up my beater. 170,000 miles and the motor is done. The body is a bit dinged up but still ok. I am debating putting a new motor in it or just dumping it and getting a new one.

Here is what it looks like.

What do you think I should do.

Looking to keep it very "reasonable". Also I am no Honda-tech by any means. So I will need to keep it at least semi-simple.

Hey, I'm in Long Pond, near the Pocono Raceway, just a stone's throw away from you!

I'm kinda in the same predicament. Should I fix my blown headgasket on my D15B2 or swap it out for something with a bit more oomph? We're currently sourcing out engines and haven't had any luck finding anything in good condition. If we don't find anything soon, we may just completely overhaul what I've got now. My 90 CRX DX is my daily driver commuter car so I don't know if I really need to be adding more gas guzzling (even minor gas guzzling) power anyways.

Why not just drop an engine in it? Have you tried any of the HArry's U-Pull-its? I think all engines next week at the Hazelton location are $50!! This week they're $50 at the Allentown location! hehehe...

But if you're seriously considering dumping the car, shoot me a PM with details. I could use a parts car!

Ya you are real close to me. I actually live in Bear Creek. What are my chances of finding any Honda motor in Harry's? I havent gone there in years.

My honda is my gas saver. I have a 05 Tundra that is KILLING me on gas. I put on about 100 miles a day.

Not too sure what your chances are of finding a complete motor in the U-Pull-It section. I've seen an early 2000 Civic sedan with Konig rims with a complete engine but it was in a front end collision with airbags deployed. I'm pretty sure the engine was FUBAR though. As I walked around thinking if I should get the rims or not, finally deciding I was gonna get them after about 15 minutes, someone beat me to it.

I just called Kress Auto Wreckers (div. of Harry's U-Pull-It) and they don't pull engines that old. The guy told me to check the yard. Like I said, engines are $50 all next week starting sunday. You never know...you may get lucky. If I had the time, I'd go there during the weekday, early in the morning and see what they had.

I put almost 200 miles a day on my car as I work in Hackensack, NJ.
