brake light coming on
This morning on my way to work, the brake light would come on when I applied the brake and stay on for a short time after releasing the pedal. It only did this for about the first 10 minutes of driving. I noticed that my maintenance light turned yellow or orange just yesterday. Don't know if that is related or not, but how do you pull codes on this car anyways? Any ideas on the brakes?
Also if it comes to getting new brakes, I would be willing to go over-sized but I don't know what you guys are doing about brake upgrades. I like the Brembo slotted for sure, but is there an oversize mod I should look into? Thanks in advance guys.

JEZUZ!!! Is it that hard for people to understand that our street cars DO NOT need big brake kits or "upgrades". I am sick of this ricer shyt!!
No, don't get slotted rotors either. They will make your braking worse!!
If you are REALLY concerned about stopping, get nice pads and nice tires. There are 3 main things that affect stopping; brake pads, suspension, and tires.
As for your brake light, first check your brake fluid. Then check your brake bulbs.

ricer sheet.... hehehe...
I will probably be the most unriced Prelude out there that performs well. I do plan on taking this thing back to SCCA Solo II events and I did notice a little fade in the current brakes. Though, I don't think I am using ceramic pads right now (I just got the thing and don't know too much about it yet). I would be glad to save the money and just get some new pads and I am actually with you on the fact that it doesn't need oversized, but it is an option and I was wondering what is available and how effective it is.
What about jumping up to 17" wheels? Do you have any preferance in shocks? I have always had great results with bilsteins, but don't see too many folks using those on their Preludes.
I was planning on checking the fluid and come to think of it... the previous owner said that now and then one of the brake lights failes to opperate, but then starts again before he can find out why.
Thanks!

I highly doubt that. How can your car perform well when you're asking us everything without searching. Go to the prelude essential links before you post again.......they have everything you need to know. Once you get done reading those millions of links, come back with more questions and we'll be glad to answer.

Oh, and 17" wheels
hurt performance

Of course we have a preference in shocks - why do you want to know? You want to use what everyone else is using?
Man, do yourself a favor - go to some websites and look up the information on the shocks - figure out which one will best fit YOU......not someone else.
You're building your own ride, not a copy of someone elses. Don't take this the wrong way, but it'll feel much better once your Lude is complete and you're able to say "This is mine....."..........
If you want to be riced out, do it -its still YOUR car..........

This place is kinda sad...
If I wanted to do serious searching and not get anyone else's opinion then why the hell does this place even exist? Just so folks can razz me for asking some simple questions from folks that have played with Preludes before? Just trying to see what has been tested and such, like for instance your claim that 17" wheels will hurt performance. That is something unexpected as the "road and track" handling curve only grew with wheel size and the most noticeable jump was to the 16".
I know little about Preludes as I just got one. I know plenty about Porsche 911, Toyota 4Runner, and am now learning plenty about the 5.9L Durango. I have had lots of experience with them and could tell you almost all the best components for each that have been tested by me and many others I have spoken with. I would be glad to save anyone time and answer any questions concerning all that info instead of telling you to search. I think anyone here knows how to use Google and probably used it to get here so I don't really get why folks always come into a message board and after being there a while complain about others asking questions. Sorry to bother anyone and still hope I can help you guys someday as I am somewhat mechanically inclined and not just out there adding body kits and 3" tips.
Where are these prelude essential links that you speak of anyways? Maybe then I won't have to bother you by asking any questions...
Though I still value others opinions instead of just trying to make a good guess as to what is best by what the box says about the product.

no no no.....you took it the wrong way......
this is what i'm saying.........
instead of saying " do you have any preference of shocks.............?"
say - "I was looking into __________ shocks, and I was wondering what you thought of them."
This lets us know you've done your searching.........
The prelude essential links are on the top of the page - maybe 3-4 links down.........it says FAQ FAQ FAQ::: prelude blah blah blah::

Word to the mother!!! I'll go check those out!
To elaborate on the shocks bit: I did a search in here and heard all about the KYB, Koni, etc... but not many talked about Billsteins. I have personally had the best performance on or off road with Billsteins. Not just a little better then anything else I have tried, but in fact there is no comparison. Which confuses me to why many folks in here don't use them.
