Default High gas milage..

I have '94 Accord with newer engine swapped in. Exactly the same F22B2 - no upgrades. My previous motor (200k miles) was burning oil and leaking. Diagnosed faulty seals and gasket forced me to make drastic decision - replacing the motor. I got an engine from '97 with aprox. 70k miles on it. Thw swap itself when without any major issues. We replaced whole intake manifold from old motor since the new engine was missing couple elements from intake. Also we used old O2 sensor. Thats about all we kept from old engine. There was no problems with starting it up and have it running. It seemed like that engine was always there and there was no swap :-)

But there is one problem...... Burns gas like my fathers V8..... :-(((

So I searched here and first thing which came out was O2 sensor - checked it right away. Resistance is as book says - between 10-40 Ohms. Voltage on running engine between 0.1-0.9 Volts. Only difference is when engine was off - book says 0.1V - my sensor 0.9V. But I figured it shouldn't be a problem since on running engine it's fine.

Then I checked ignition timing... Perfectly fine.

I'm out of ideas? What else? Comparing to old engine I'm doing 100 miles per tank less (with the same driving style). The spark plugs are new, ignition wires as well. I'm running on Mobil1 oil (high milage). There are no overheating issues. Also warming up is quick (same as old engine).

Cannot be faulty thermostat, can be? If so - how to check it?

What about EGR? How to check it? How to clean it (read here couple times that ppl are cleaning it, but how)?

Also cleaned injectors with one of those cleaners you add to gas.

What else??? Please help...

Thanks in advanced.

when you reconnected the ECU power did you let the engine idle for about 5 mins? I would change out the O2 sensor to a newer one. They usually are good for about 80K before needing to be replaced.

Yup. Once we finished the swap the car was running till full warm-up.

I'll try that this weekend? Anything else I should check?

I had this prob a couple months ago and this was the thread I posted in and got the info on how to FIX. The DIY link in it is

If you can swap the engine you can clean the EGR blindfolded. Just be sure not to get any crud in the cylinders when you pull the injectors out.
Update when you get done.

there was no time to clean the intake but it looked very bad... I just read write-ups other guys posted - seems to be very simple... I'll play with it as soon as I have some time.
Thanks a lot.
