alternator screw overheating

Default **please help**alternator screw overheating

I have a B18C and the screw on the top of the alternator is over heating and glowing i just noticed. could this be because i put new bulbs in my corner lights and i dont think they were the right ones?or could it be something else. im switching them back

never heard of that before...
Best bet you'll your alternator is broken... Over charging the battery is a bad thing.
Take it out and go test it @ autozone.

something is overheating that is touching the bolt.

the rubber thing was melting alittle

let me check if its over charging the battery

alright well i noticed that the wire was alittle loose so i started to tighten it alittle and the bolt just snaped so now i guess i need a new alternator


QUESTION?
does a 94 integra gsr have the same alternatar as the 91 crx dx engine?

if it was over charging your battery then the battery would be boiling and you would smell old eggs I think that there might have bean alot of resistance so even if you change your alt. it still might do the same thing, there was a problem like this on a frod truck i worked on well good luck

I would not solder the wire, i would say just buy a new one and I would check the resistance in the wire that bolts to the alt.. it my be to high if you check the size or gauge of the wire and then check your manuel there should be a resistance rating per foot of wire all of this is just at thought it my not even the problem I asked a another mech at my work and he said this is a very uncommen prblem

If the nut holding the charge wire was not tight,
That is what fried it..

Loose connections increase resistance which increase heat...
Replace the alternator and the connector also..

88DXCRX your right i talked to one of my friends today and thats what he said.

so when i tried to tighten it the first time the bolt broke and there was another bolt underneith a 12mm do you think if i use that to hold it it will be ok?
