Default h23a3 engine swap and new clutch

I recently swapped an h23a3 into my 96 si and it will not rev past 3k. It is throwing a TDC code but my mechanic told me everything is correct with the distributor and sensor. This is my first time dealing with a new clutch as well and i know i shouldnt rev it past 3k anyways but i let it rev too high one time and the motor basically acted like it was hitting redline, bouncing on and off of 3k rpm. And ideas?

Did you get the correct ECU for it?

yes it is the same ecu as h23a1, p14 i believe? The only thing that i could think of is that my mechanic did not do the timing but it would b very hard to overlook something as important as that.

Your distributor might have gone bad.
Could be the reason why your car is in "limp" mode.

i agree with ludster. when my dist went bad in my civic it ran good until around 3-4K, then it ran like total ***. everyone said if the dist went bad the car would not run. i proved them wrong when i replaced it (the dist) and it ran like a champ.

distributors are not cheap.
