Default Blown Motor from over-revving (picts)

See what happens when you have a chipped ECU, thinking that you can take your car past 10,000 rpms? This dipchit we know was racing another Hybrid, thinking that he could beat him if he kept on revving higher & higher. Well, he floated his valves (with ITR valve springs) and embedded a valve into the #4 piston, cracked the sleeve on the #3 cylinder, and the head is pretty much toast.

Just because you have a chipped ECU & upgraded valve train, doesn't mean that you can safely take it above & beyond the factory limits. This is obviously a "worse-case scenario" of what can happen from over-revving your motor. Haven't checked the bearings yet but we'll tear it apart this weekend.

Fool, 10,000 rpms?

He was probaly making more hp and tq @ 4500 rpms then @ 10,000! Live and learn. Sorry to see that stuff happen, costs a fortune to fix.

HAH! moron.
thats the Do'h of the week award right there.
Mental Note: do NOT rev to 10,000 on stock valvetrain. Even with ITR setup...

Default Some more info.....

Some more info on the motor....

It has/had CTR cams, ITR valve springs, Crower Titanium retainers, ITR manifold, Mugen chipped PR3 ECU (thus the 10,500 rev limit) and stock bottom end. This guy is a complete idiot when it comes to cars.... doesn't know the difference between a cam and a *****. Anyways, he thinks that his car is fast (which it is, but not the fastest thing around) and while racing another Hybrid, he though that since his rev limit was so high, that he could take his motor up there to pull on the other car. He's had that motor in there for 5-6 months and finally did something stupid in it (usually he doesn't drive it hard cause he doesn't know how to drive either). Now, he's got a stock B16A motor in there (he gave us his old motor & parts) and he still has the same Mugen ECU.... won't doubt it that he blows that soon too. <--- just a little background for yah
