Default $15,000 Setup

Ok so here is the deal, I have $15,000 to spend on a car. Thanks to the Navy, I have to buy the car which I would like a CRX or a 1997 Civic Hatch. I would like to Swap a B18C5 into it. I was wondering what kinda setup I could do with about $11,000 in performance mods (subtract the cost of swap). I would like a low 13 sec car that is street worthy, and reliable. Faster if I can. I dont want to S/C it but I wouldn't mind turboing.

Also I was wondering, I know you can put a B16 head on an LS block. However can you put a B18C5 Head on a LS Block and if soo would I beable to make any real power numbers from it..

Ive searched but havent found much.....thanks guys

Yes the B18C5 Head would go on the ls block, but if you want an ls/vtec you should get the b16 head they flow about the same with a good p&p and cheaper i believe. Also if you have 11k to spend why not try to build a really fast reliable B20VTEC that should definately get you like 13's. Good Luck.

It's a lot cheaper to buy a car that already has a swap. Not as fun, but waaaay cheaper.

Otherwise, I'd recommend buying yourself a turbo '00 civic SI or something similar.

Send me the $11k pay pal and I'll tell you what to do. . Just kidding. You really should do a search and look at the different cars and setups to get a better idea of what is street worthy, and reliable. There are tons of posts with different people building motors. $15k is alot of money to put into a car all at once. Good luck

dude you have to go with a 1996-2000 ek civic hatch with 99-2000 front end. get a k20 swap with k-pro. keep it clean and light. conservative drop, nice paint job, jdmcivic type r interior, and some decent 15" or 16" rims (type r rims or prelude rims on type r brakes would be pimp).

i like crx's a lot, but 15,000 into a crx doesn't even sound right. maybe if it was full drag, but for a street ride, an ek with k20 is so ballin. clean and bling bling without the flashy ****.

your car would be so efffin fast and will have huge future potential. even with a stock k20 swap, you can easily hit mid 13's. that is some fast reliable honda engineering. you would have a high re sale value because swapped ek's are high in demand.

word for the K series swaps!! if you got the bread man, do it. but i would save a lil of the money so you dont kick yourself in the *** later. stick it in a IRA or Mutual Funds. make some money off your money man.

my thoughts exactly...

and if you were to spend that much, I'd say go for a k-series EK.

Just like a racecar. Always cheaper to buy one that's already built. You can always change stuff around on it anyways, and sell what you don't reuse. There was a DC2 with a JR supercharged K20 that recently sold on the HT classifieds. IIRC, his original asking price was 14k and it sold for less than that.

Just look around a little. A civic with a B series swap can even be found for much cheaper than that, if you have your heart set on a hatch with a C5

look in the cars for sale forum, a couple months back i saw a red eg with a boosted k20 in it for $10,500. thats a steal if u ask me. there was also a few more k-series swapped cars in there. or if u wanna build ur own i would get a DA and put a k24 in it. j/k but if the mounts were out i probably would. u should go k24 in a ek.

Yeah i agree with some of the other people on this post. go with the k-swap in a civic hatch. make it clean! 15,000 is a lot. spend it wisely.
