what is a zc swap?
ill be nice, because some pepole will be dicks, everybody need a intro to hondas. a ZC is a D-series motor, meaning it is a single over head cam motor(SOHC) but the ZC also comes in a Dual over head cam version too(DOHC). it is nothing like a H22 or a B18c, those are both vtec, a ZC is not, altho i have herd of a sohc zc vtec, but know nothing about it. the ZC is a good cheep motor, if you blow it up, it is $700 to replace it. when a B18c will cost alot more. well i hope this helps you with your desision.
SOHC ZC VTEC swap is nice.
My 1995 Civic Coupe w/ D16 SOHC ZC VTEC swap + Ghetto Filter pulled on a CRX w/ DOHC ZC Swap.
So basically, the ZC swap, is either a SOHC Vtec (Maybe some non-vtec? I think they all are.) or a DOHC Non-Vtec. Both of which put out about the same numbers I believe.
SOHC ZC Vtec is a 1.6L
SOHC ZC is 1.5L
SOHC ZC Vtec is a 1.5L
DOHC ZC is 1.6L
Brown Top ZC that is DOHC it fits in the 84-87 Civic/CRX/Teg 1.6L
Black top ZC DOHC fits in 88-91 Civic/CRX 1.6L
Black Top ZC DOHC OBD1(Grey plug disturbitor) fits 92-95 Civic/Delsol 1.6L
D16A1 was avaliable in the US it came in the 84-89 Integra's its DOHC 1.6L
all ZC's were not avalible in the US
the DOHC ZC also goes by D16A8 and D16A9 in countrys other than Japan

Correct. All engines stamped "ZC" are JDM 1.6L D-series engines. They were avilable in SOHC non-VTEC, DOHC non-VTEC, and SOHC VTEC configurations.
All SOHC VTEC ZCs had PGM-FI multi-point fuel injection and were OBD-1.
Non-VTEC ZCs were available with either dual carburetors or PGM-FI multi-point fuel injection. Non-VTEC PGM-FI ZCs were available with pre-OBD and OBD-1 systems.

your DX transmission will work - not the best choice, but will work - any 88-91 CRX/Civic transmission will work with the right flywheel/clutch combo for the transmission used - a ZC transmission will also work with a ZC intermediate shaft and 90-93 Integra axles
that will work too. but if ur gonna be swappin out flywheels, u might wanna get a lightweight one. stock flywheels are heavy as ****. if i want pics of a dohc zc, i have one in my sig link. its missing the valve cover. but u can get an idea.
the d15b vtec is not a ZC, it does'nt matter if lots of people call it that because thats not what it is, its a d15b. lots of people call their 88-91 civics Ef's even though they are ED's. ZC means 1.6L and nothing else

Um, no. If it isn't stamped "ZC," then it is not a ZC. That's a pretty easy concept to understand. All engines that are stamped "ZC" are 1.6L. A D15B is not a ZC, it is a D15B.

d15b would be a dx motor, depending on what number is after that b. ZC is ZC.
i believe someone else mentioned it below, it think its like d16a1, thats the usdm equivalent to the zc, but its not exactly the same. a zc still had more power.
here is a link with some basic ZC info.

also the sohc zc is equivalent to 88-91 si motor but a little more go juce. the dohc zc, i believe, is equivalent to the 86-89 dohc motor but with a little more go juice. i've read that there is a brown top dohc zc that should be avoided, but i can't remember why. may fortune be with you when you choose.
