Default Car backfires and won't start.

I have a jdm itr motor, the engine has been running fine except that the idle would roll slightly. Then today all of a sudden when i try to start my car it backfires and doesn't start. Plug wires are in the right order, and i check all the plugs. Rotor and contacts are fine. I have searched and haven't found anything to help me.

Maybe the hybrid section would know? I would asume that those guys get all kinds of problems.

pull your distributor off and see if the bearing is good.
90-93 accords are notorious for that ****.. who knows.. maybe some B series are affected too.

if the dizzy is hard to turn then you might need a new housing.

What do you mean roll? Like going up and down? Surging? If so, is it a fast surge? slow surge?

I haven't touched anything on that motor in a few months.Very slow, it would be at 1500 go up to 1600 then drop back down to 1000. It would do that everytime i go into neutral.

did you check the position of the crank? check to see if the crank was lined up correctly with the cams and whatnot? just a thought.

checked it, retensioned the belt again so tdc marks would match.

its not the timing.. i had that same problem....

Try borrowing someone elses Distrubitor...
if that didnt work

Try a Different Throttle body... That idle roll sounds like your TPS sensor is faulty..

When My TPS sensor took a ****.. it backfired and wouldnt start either

(so i went out and bought a Eriks racing TB)

Cam timing looks ok but make sure the cam gears didn't slip over the key. My buddy's teg wouldn't fire either and when it did it would back-fire, everything looked fine to the naked eye until we pulled one of the cam gears. It's a long shot but...
A back-fire will usually indicate timing.

Sounds, exactly like the problem I'm having, except when I try starting my car it seems like it wants to start, but then the intake would make a loud sucking noise, then backfire real loud, like its miss firing but I checked my cam gears and their at TDC, and everything else looks fine.

I think you better check the TDC is it at the frist cylinder compress position (top). Not the botten. otherwrise, you will get backfire and not start. And also check your coil is it at the first cylinder position too. Because the TDC can be at 4th cylinder intake position and 1st cylinder Ex position. check that out.

How about your timing belt...could it have skip a tooth and thrown the timing off?

If you checked the TPS sensor and the coil, and the distrib and none of those worked...it can't hurt to check the belt and tensioner.

Are you throwing any codes?

First check this and you might be able to diagnose if its an external part, but sounds to me like a bent valve.
