Default installing a pspec short shifter..

when i received my shifter in the mail, they forgot to give me a removal tool to push the old shifter out of its frame. I tried emailing them, no word back and there is no number on their site.. Any of you who had short shifters from different companies did you get a something to push your old shifter out? Or anyone know of any substitutions i could use? BTW its a 99 prelude.

they supply their own tool called the pspec removal tool.. you fit it into the frame to nudge the old shifter out of the frame...

By "removal tool" he means the part that is used to BREAK apart the stock shifter from the base plate. It is not meant to come apart which is exactly why I don't offer a 5gen short shifter.

And good luck getting ahold of him. Your best bet is to catch him on AIM.

well i bought a pspec short shifter and it came w/ a tool. i dont think you actually BREAK anything out of there like 4bidden says but yeah it's a pita to get out. it's held in by 2 clips and the tool he gives you youre suposed to tap it in so the clip is just almost out....and then comes the bashing. he says you can do it by just hitting the shifter against the frame but i call bs!!!! i was slamming at the shifter for like an hour before it got it out. however for the first 30 mins i didnt realize that i hammered it in wayy to far and the clip went back in. the shifter base is rock solid so dont worry about breaking it....i took a giant hammer and bashed away at the shifter for an hour i know ^^. youre basically just supposed to break loose the clip. if you can find a wedge that you can put in there to help the clip come out. if you look inside the base you see the clip kinda. the wedge works to both loosen around the shifter and push the clip 90% out of the hole. once that's out of the way it's smooth sailing from there. as for the quality of the shifter i got the whole package w/ boot and **** and i have to say it feels pretty good. i love it compared to my stock shifter and it nearly got rid of the mushiness i felt in gears 1 3 5 i felt w/ the stock shifter, but i think that was b/c i forced it in once and knocked out a clip so it kinda felt mushy in 135. well that's it for my long winded response.

im so glad mine came w/ everything ^^
i dont think the scrw w/ threadlocker is such a good idea....you can NEVER replace te shifter once youve locked the thread......or you have to break some parts...just find a scrw that fits lol im kinda wishing i did that

I have one of these shifters and let me clear a some things up.

The shifter is not very easy to install.
However, nothing is "broken" when installing the shifter.
Yes, having that tool will make it much easier to install the new shifter.
Although the shifter is not perfect, considering the choices available for the 5th gen the Pspec is a good choice.

On a side note, the guy who sells these does take a while to awnser email, so give it some time.

well i mean it has a screw in it already, but in the tutorial it says to put in the SS machined screw with threadlocker in it.. do you think the one thats in the shifter would make a difference if i keep it in there... my thoughts would be i dont think it would make a difference...

I guess I'm a little biased but does bolting your shifter together not sound right to anyone else? I'd much prefer welds!

I suggest not using the treadlocker, it's not necessary IMO.
