Default pr4 ecu

this is about my 89 crx (b18b1), when i was talking to a few crx owners about the swap they talked about it might be best to use the pr4 (obd0), why would this be?

The PR4 ecu has the correct fuel and timing maps to run the 1.8 litre DOHC motor as it was meant to be. The HF ecu was designed to run a 1.5 litre SOHC economy engine. I'll bet you are running lean and have a fuel cut at about 5k. The PR4 will fix that and allow you to wind to 7k. The CRX Si ecu would be better than the HF but neither as good as the PR4.

On the side of the ecu, there should be a tag or label that has a bunch of numbers and letters on it. You should see PR4 on that tag.

I have never seen or heard of a PR5. All OBD0 and OBD1 (90-93 Integras) B18A's came with PR4's.

Pr5 is from a integra ZXI sohc zc,,So that ecu isnt the best for the b18a/b either

stock honda maps are pretty much all the same.
on a side note, when I had my eg, I t came stock with a d15b7. I then swapped to a b18b, then later to a b20z. i interchanged the dx ecu(po5?) and the ls ecu(p75?) both had the same fuel cutt off's circa 7k. I found the dx ecu gave me more power on the butt dyno. Later on I saw someones chart, where they showed the difference, and it turned out the dx ecu gave the b series motors +1 hp over the stock ls ecu. trip out.

Right now im running a pr4 in my single cam ef. I am only running it because it was very affordable compared to the prices of pm6's.
don't stress over it homie

you should be able to pick up a pr4 for fairly cheap though. i know my old DA integra had a b18a1 w/pr4.
