Default Self healing catalytic converter...yay

So my car seems to have "healed" itself. The check engine light went off by itself about a month ago and hasn't come back. No code 67, or anything like that.

It must be an advanced feature of Carsound cats. to self heal themselves.

I am thinking this is probably the time to go do an emissions check that Illinois is allowing me to do in Arizona so I can avoid having to register my car in AZ (cause it sucks, and I hate the state with a passion).

Any tips to help me pass emissions before I make the trip?

My Girlfriend's 4dr GS was thowing the same code, and it fixed itsself too.

I just had the emissions tested on my R yesterday and it passed..the machine didn't seem to mind the thick black soot on the back either.

Edit: Hey our ITRs are almost Brothers!

As it was explained to me, the ECU goes through a cycle of tests before it determines whether to throw a CEL or not. It's possible, depending on the surrounding conditions, that your carsound cat is passing the cycles where as before, it wasn't and the ECU was throwing the code 67.

Spoke too soon! Dammit, CEL just went on today, after a month of no problems.

Mine heals for 2-5 months at a time.

The check engine light goes out after a certain amount of ignition cycles. I am not sure of the number it takes but it does work that way. The problem does still exist and once the computer picks up the problem the light will show its face again.

Oh,and as long as you dont have any CEL's,youll pass emmisions..I just ran my Si through in oct,and it has aftermarket cams/internals,and it passed due to the fact that the ecu wasnt communicating with the CEL...Took a whole 3 minutes to do the test,too.GL.
