There won't be a cutoff whenyou're retaining your stock halogen housings.

Just more light output.

Yea? I didnt know that, what causes the cutoff then? And how do you get a different housing...plus, is it that big a deal?

its a damn big deal, have someone drive by you and see how much glare it puts off. people in my area have done it and its blinding as hell. If you really want to see the output, go in a garage in the middle of the night so it is completely dark, and take a picture. the light pattern will be everywhere.

So answer the rest of the question as to how to fix it. Honestly, I hate HID's behind me, so how do you change it to have a cutoff?

you need actual projectors inorder for it to work. Also, you need a clear headlight housing and not the rippled one. That should clear out all of the glare along with have a sharper cutoff.

Exactly.

There are block off filters available for them. It helps with the blinding, but not with the glare in general. However I have to admit, that the higher light output makes it really interesting.

Yeah, either way, driving with Hid's is like going from 56k to cable internet, once you have them, its really hard to see without them!

Yeah but those do have alot of scatter. Adn the light is not going where it needs to. I am still working on a HID ready projector housing to avoid this type of thing

Yeah i think we all know "the right way" but not all of us have the time to retrofit a projector in a non projector housing.

My dad has a TL that has HID's and they aren't projectors, and they still have scatter too.

All i know is that i am alot safer on the roads where i am driving at night with my HID's.

But yeah, Projectors SURE would be nice to have in my stock housings. How about you do them and show us. Then maybe more people wil be prone to tackle this task.

Im with you... im tempted to give the HID a try, and hope I dont blind anyone in the process.... The roads here are terrible, and they dont light they well enough. Im thinking bout looking into what the OP got, but he wont tell me how much it cost

Yeah, They look better in projector housing, and they aren't made for our housings, BUT i have a set and it helps out, doesn't seem to bother oncomin drivers, and helps me out ALOT. I just pointed my lights down a bit with the adjustment screw so it points alot of the light down on the road in front of me. Works great!

It's not for the Bling bling factor of havin HIDs for me, strickly safety.

Wow. That first picture looks really cool with the lights and all. That cutoff near that warehouse looks pretty damn cool as well. Almost like a show car pose.

I got a set of BMW HID projectors complete w/ballasts & everything for ~$350 US shipped....and then clear lens headlights for about $100. I figure maybe $50 tops for materials and it should rock teh road.

Bryant actually covered this a few yrs ago when he still had his white CRX. He's got pictures of a DIY retro kit and he was the first to purchase a xenon kit when it came out.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=447086&page=1 for the DIY

http://xenondepot.com/pghcrx4k.php for the CRX pics.

There's tons of info on it and if you ask me the HID's don't look all that bad without a projector.
