Default speed sensor???

91 accord lx

Can a speed sensor be the cause and effect of my tranny not being able to shift into overdrive. Because the car seems to shift fine through out all first 3 gears, just that it won't pop into overdrive when going at higher speeds.
Because i experience all the usual causes of blinking green light, speedometer works when it wants, check engine light and engine reving in park or at a stop.

Pop up the link below and then you'll be able to get the 'flash' code and be able to get a correct diagnose; not wind up throwing money at the problem.

repost the code and get some more help

If everything checks out, as strange as this sounds, check this out. It works.

Make sure that you car is reaching proper operating temp. If the car is not at proper operating temp, then the ECU will not allow the TQ coverter to completely lock up.

The VSS can certainly cause those problems, and every one of those conditions point to it as the culprit, but maybe not the only one.
There are two solenoid packs mounted to the transmission case. they have filter screens under them. If these screens should become clogged with debris, OD and Converter lock up could cease functioning. Remove the solenoids, and clean the screens
