Default 92 accord ex no spark

OK, so my friend got a 92 accord ex for free, for a daily. It needed some work, and so we put it into the shop. It isnt getting any spark. It had a Viper alrm in it, which I removed thinking that may be the problem. I found that the coil was getting the 12v needed, but it wasnt passing through to the coil and into the ign amplifier. I changed the coil out with a new one, and now everything is getting voltage.

It still has no spark. I checked to make sure the timing belt wasnt broken and it is OK. The dizzy turns fine, and has very minimal shaft play.

I checked the codes on the ecm, and it flashed a "0". In the book it says this is a bad ECM. Is that true?....any other things I may want to check after we change the ecm?

Thanks for the help.

This link might help you

Be sure there is a good ground at the T-stat housing
The code Flashed '0' ?? Does that mean it just stayed on when the jumper was connected? If so that means 'no code'.

Ill be sure to check the ground. As for the code, it stayed lit for a while, than went off...nothing else. It was on maybe for a second.

Yes, it turns over fine. the timing belts are ok, and everything has voltage going to it. I thought it was the ignitor as well, until I tried to read the ecm codes. The CEL came on for a few seconds and then it never flashed. Now I am thinking that that is code 0...bad ecm, or no codes and it is the ignitor.

If the CEL isn't on normally, and when you check it for codes, if it doesn't blink, that means that you don't have a code. Not a code zero.

Than how does it flash "0" to indicate a dead ecm? Does the cell just not come on at all when the jumper wire is placed in the connection?

i thought a bad ecu was when the cel just stays steady on, with or without the jumper in.

Like Dirt Mcgirt said, a bad ecu will keep the cel on constantly. I'm also going with the ignitor theory.

Distributors are known to just go out. I had one explode while I was driving on the freeway.
