JDM syncros VS. USDM syncros
The JDM units have little gerbals that install w/ the syncros. Something about adding to the WGP (Wheel Gerbal Power)... Unlucky little bastards....

If you are buying new syncros, go through http://www.Gear-speed.com They offer Carbon-Coated synros 3-5 for 150 shipped. Ask them for some of there scuffing paper and give the syncro-surface of the gear a quick, for the lack of a better term (at the moment
) "scuff."
I hope you have a manual or a person helping you...if this is your first time, you'll have a good time.

thank you, I have been looking for that web site. About the scuffing paper...is that important or just let the syncros brake in easier?
I have done replace gears...only problem I have is when putting the case back together, the snap ring on top doesn't like to go back too easy. Do you have any tricks to get the snap ring back in place easier? thanks

HAHA...I hate that ring. There is a tool made for that specifc purpose. Thats the only trick I know. Or having a extra set of hand helps. Also, heating the case in the oven helps when you can't get the bearings in place.
As far as the "scuff" paper, Gear-speed uses it...so thats good enough for me

If you're having shifting problems, look at your synchro sleeves also..it's not always the ring that fails, but more the sleeve that slides over the gears/synchros...just a tip.
The case should go smoothly down until the snap ring hits the top of the countershaft bearing...then take out your snap ring pliers and the case should go down fine. If it doesn't, it's probably held up on the bearing, shift gate, or reverse idler gear or shift fork shafts...might lube them up before install. Make sure you test everything before hondbonding the case together to make sure all is good.
After you've torqued the case down, flip the tranny upside down to get the countershaft bearing to snap into the ring...works everytime.
