Default Engine swap 88 CRX Si

Will the engine that HMOTORSONLINE sells (30018 - 88-91 SOHC ZC longblock) be a direct swap in my 88, and will I be able to legally pass smog in California with this? If not what are my other options?

thanks

Yes, it will be a direct swap for you. Should be plug and play. And yes, i dont see why you wouldn't pass smog with it. Just make sure you have some extra cash to replace timing belt, HEad gasket, waterpump, and do a tuneup before you swap it into your car. It will def help out in the end, and keep your motor running longer!

i don't know much about the ZC swap..but i think that it won't pass CA smog...my only suggestion is do a b16 or b18 and ref that thing

So I guess my second question would be where could I get a D16A6 replacement then?

dont give up so easily... ask more around about zc engines..... i dont see why it wont pass CA smog... if ulll do a good tune-up change ur timing belt with water pump... then u shud be good.... on and put the highest fuel before u go so it would clean your whole fuel system... well thats my 2 cents

How does your exhaust system look?? If the cat is rusted, you should probably replace it. But I wouldnt suggest anything high flow off the bat- just keep it stock to pass the test.

you should be fine- continue your research on that setup. I was gonna go with that motor because i saw another rex owner with that motor beat a very lightly modded mk4 supra. have fun

its not the stuff coming out the tail pipe hes worried about, its all going to be clean and honda goodness. but the block stamping is an issue. because theres no sutch thing as an USDM ZC.

Do a search- some engine builders can re-stamp your block to say anything you want.

the thing is that even if it passes the sniffer test...it won't pass the visual..CA laws are tough..i think we have the worst smog regulation there is..

CA Smog test

Emission, Function, and Visual....if u fail on any of these u won't pass

or u can try to get done illegally...but it will cost u and good luck finding someone that will do it...

Yeah,it will pass the sniffer as long as the motor is running healthy and has correct ecu,But when the person sees "ZC" stamped on the block ::: FAIL..

You see all these swapped cars in cali going for so cheap and that's why..So unfortuneate

man Cali smog laws are retarded..they can fail u just by looking in the engine bay. if they see a different color hose or not SAE approve hose...FAIL. even a sensor not plugged in...FAIL...damn visual test
