Default 92-95 Civic Si motor in a 90' CRX Si... is it a problem?

I've had a 90' CRX Si for about 4 years now but the motor and valve train locked up last Memorial Day weekend. I had a deal going with a guy named Mike McClain from Monrovia California for a B16 with all necessary extras and after I sent the money, I never got anything. Anyway, I need to get the car up and running but since my B16 funding is gone, I have an opportunity to possibly get a motor from a 92-95 Civic Si locally. Will it go in with no problem and mate up with the tranny and ECU that I still have, or are there many things that I have to switch? I just want to get the thing running now after almost a year of not. Any feedback is welcome. Thank you for your time and attention.

OK its not a big problem but you will need parts off your si motor(90) like the t/b, motor mounts, and probably your distributer since 88-91 are non odb and the 92-95 is obd1.Those are your biggest issues,Next is the wiring for vtec and knock NO big deal and if you want I can tell you where to make the changes at your ecu. Then you will need ecu for it the pw0 works well.
Hope this helps some. And if you want a build on yopu r sohc vtec I build minime setups and have a business thats mostly builds and swaps so if you need any motor stuff let me know.ok

Go to http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/
It will give you all the info on this swap. The motor, and tranny will fit right in. There are some changes your going to have to make so go to that website. I bought my car with this swap and it's pretty good. Also Zdyne makes an ECU for this engine which will let you use the ecu to turn on VTEC. I have it on mine and it's better than the Si ecu.

So, I am to assume that I will be replacing the ECU most likely? I have no idea as to what a swap like this would run $ to get everything right, plus I'd like to keep the factory A/C but if the newer motor will throw in some kinks to my problem, maybe I should just try to find a replacement stock motor. Normally this wouldn't be a problem except my motor budget was stolen from me as told in my first post.

I don't think that keeping the A/C would be a problem. Also you can still use the Si ecu, but you're going to need to get something to activate VTEC. Like a rpm switch. The ECU will work, it's just not the best one to use.

I think I understand what you're saying... but what kind of cost is involved with getting a different ECU in order for it all to work properly? I don't know a thing about the extra add-on controllers available, but it's not a sure thing on the motor yet either. I just wish I hadn't gotten dicked with my B16 deal.

I do have an adapted harness I got separately that was meant to be used with the B16 package that was never sent to me. I don't know if that could be used with the newer Si motor or not, or if it could be adapted again. I guess it was a combined D16/B16 harness to ease my install of the B16 when it was to show up. Anyway, I wanted to respond to your post as well so I didn't come across as ignoring you at all. I appreciate your input as well.
