ok so today i bought a b16a4 motor for $2000$ is that good? it is the whole swap! also is the motor even good the guy said it was from japan but he didnt know what gen from any info on the motor would be great was it a good buy or not?? thanx

 

never heard of a A4, i know there is A3 from a delsol, but if it was JDM motor it wouldn't have the number at the end, just b16A

 

if its a b16a4 then you got jipped because there is no such thing as a b16a4. And if its from Japan then it wouldn't have a number at the end of it. Take a picture of it and we'll let you know if its a good buy or not

He probably meant that there was a 4 in the serial number after th motor designation. That would be a late model B16 with some extra goodies....not sure on the specifics though. 2k is a reasonable price for the full swap....not really hook up though.

I thought JDM engines had no numbers at the end.

 

all japan b16s are b16a unless its a CTR which be a b16b

Could be a European motor.

 

Yeah they are all B16A's, but like mentioned above, it would designate a late model b16a.

 

ok well i did some research and it says that its from a civic sirII jdm it has 170hp. that the only info ive gotten so far. i well take pics of it 2morrow when i start to install it also it seems like its really from japan couse the wire harness is the opposite the computer is on the other side. and im sure it says b16a4 then under it is the longer number ill get that 2morrow too. try not to scare me and tell me its a bad motor lol well let me know if anybody knows for sure

Well if you search google for b16a4 there are plenty of references to the 96+ asian model civic SirII.

I think if you read the **** in this thread you will be able to tell if you wasted your money or not. Personally I don't think you got fucked.

 

B16's in general are great 'beginner' swaps. I say beginner because its kind of like a gateway drug. Pretty soon you'll want something faster and better. And good luck with the swap.

It's true. 95-00 EK Sir's came with the mysterious B16A4. Honda really threw us a curveball with the oh-so-different B16A3.
