Need help diagnosing why my car is burning oil!
Okay well I just dropped a 97 gsr motor into my coupe.
Before I put the motor in I put a headgasket in it.
Starts everythign runs fine. Except that it blows out a shitload of grayish blue smoke at full throttle. At idle there is no smoke. And even when I'm drving normal there is a minimal amount of smoke. I did a compression test on the motor and got 210 psi on every cylinder which tells me the rings are fine. After a week or so of driving I am about half a qt. low of oil.
The only other thing I could think of would be the valve seals are bad? Possibly valve guides but everyone I talked to says thats not too likely to go bad.
Has anone ever had this similar problem, what else could it be?

i have the same problem but i have a 95 civic hatch with a d16z6 and the idle will go real low and sometimes it wants to stall and when i rev it the idle will be fine and when i get into high rpm it will blow out a cloud of smoke. somebody told me that i need a valve job so im going to replace the head and see if it fixes the problem. anybody have any input?
Most likely its your oil rings. Your compression rings may be fine but they don't do an adequate job of preventing blow by. At high rpm your worn oil rings aren't able to do a good enough job of this, so you're burning oil. More than likely has nothing to do with your valve seals if you aren't burning much oil any time other than hard driving.
Only thing you can really do is rebuild if that is in fact your problem. My old gsr had the same problem. Minimal oil consumption most of the time, pulled hard, great compression, but smoked like crazy at high rpm.
